Black spots etc on my lipstick plant.

Don’t know how long I’ve had it, there is also some white fluff that keeps coming back that I just wiped off. The black edges and dark spots on stems is throughout the whole plant, but most leaves dont have any spots. Any insight would be appreciated, thanks (more info below in comments)

can we see the whole plant ...

is it outdoors .. has it been in the sun .. give us more info about the rest of the plant culture ... not just the boo boos ....

and if its outside.. may as well tell us where you are.. big city name ....

its indoors, at a window with no direct sun, but quite bright light

the room is a little dry, and there is a outside door near it so its a little drafty. there is new growth coming but there is a bit of dying, especially where there is a brown dry growth affecting the plant

also this white fluff that comes back very quickly after i wipe it away

no, no and no....lol, and remember its only the leaves covere by the top layer of leaves, so I would have had to spray under the top layer of leaves......I am watchiung the plant, and it seems to be doing fine, no more of the spots......

It looks and sounds like you have two types of pests - brown scale are the round-ish blobs. The tiny bugs, along with the speckling on the leaves, sound like spider mites. Google those names to see if they match up along with various ways to eliminate them. Brooke

Welcome to Garden Web and specifically the gesneriad forum. Lipsticks like good light, to be kept moist, with a slight drying out between watering (I refer to this as "lightly moist"), a good airy type potting mix, and to be fertilized lightly during the year. Then it takes patience, since the plant may have a season for flowering, though regular lipsticks will flower at any time. They like to flower after they finish a growth cycle, blooming from the tips. So, a hard pruning could prevent a flowering. Generally if the plant is healthy and growing well it will eventually start flowering.

Did you receive any information about what is the problem with your lipstick plant? Mine has exactly the same problem (except I dont have white fluff)
