Should I put a pond here?
Comments (37)The tree would concern me. Our pond has large trees nearby and I can tell you what a mess they are in the spring and fall. The wind blows even my neighbor's leaves into my pond and his is about 50 yards away! Not to mention the "helicopters" and all the other stuff trees drop. A net is essential at those times. One thing that I didn't anyone mention is the safety concern since you have small children. A pond is like a pool and you need to think about that. Children love ponds because of all the wildlife they attract and they can drown just as easily in them. Your town may even have a code regarding ponds. I'm not sure how many people on this site have a pondless waterfall. We're all ponders. But I found a pretty basic step-by-step article for you and it should give you some idea of what's involved. Reconsider a pond once your children get older, and if you find you've become addicted, then go for it. Not only will that elimate the safety concern, but you'll have more yard space - and time - for a fish pond. And you will need time - don't let anyone tell you it's low maintenance. I think it's a great hobby, but you should do your homework first. Think about how much time and effort you're willing to put into this. Adding fish adds a whole new dimension in care and maintenance. If all you want is the sound of running water, then maybe the pondless waterfall is the way to go for now. Talk to other ponders in your area first to see what's involved. (I like the stream idea leading into a more sunny area of your yard - that's how our pond is constructed and it's great.) Comments (21)Love the new table. I would rather see one lamp, tho, something with more shape and substance, rather than a pair of skinny buffet lamps. What happens, imo, with the two lamps is that you end up emphasizing the narrowness of the wall space, rather than letting your eye float past the edges of the wall. Plus, having the two lamps over the two side shelves each with two figurines is too much two-by-two for me. I would like to see a lamp more like this, which I think picks up the greens in the wall and art, as well as the multitude of flower colors. Not crazy about the shade, would prefer something plain. asian inspired lamp I would hang the artwork just a few inches above the cabinet, let the lamp overlap the frame a bit on the left side. Move the figurines to the center for the feel of a collection, and use the side shelves for some books, perhaps a pretty bowl, and maybe a small ivy or fern on one shelf, to pull some color down from the wall and the artwork to the cabinet....See Morewhat should I put here?
Comments (11)What do you need to store? That would help determine what type of piece you could add. Adding two more panels to each window would be a good idea. They aren't quite full enough as is. I like this panel system from IKEA for sliders. https://www.ikea.com/us/en/p/yrla-panel-curtain-white-white-20378770/...See Morewhat clock should I put here?
Comments (3)Since your family uses the clock all the time, it does need to be big and clear enough for easy readability. That said, the clock doesn't need to be the only thing on that wall, you could easily integrate it into a gallery wall with photos, art, etc, which might be more fun/interesting/pleasing than a big clock alone on a wall. That said, if you find a clock you LOVE, it could be the sole focal point, in addition to being a functional piece....See More- 2 years ago
