Wooo!!! Cat, I am stuck at home because of the snow storm so wandered around here not looking at anything in particular and came upon your thread. I totally agree with you on the shower curtain choice. Regardless of whether I have the money to spare or not, keeping those suckers clean is a nuisance over time. We have a glass shower door that was installed back in 2003 and I can't tell you how much I hate cleaning it. Not that the door is all that dirty, but a shower curtain is way easier, and you can change the look/style whenever you feel like it. Can't do that with a pricey shower door. Anyway, everything looks lovely as usual, including the "prom" dress :-) Love, love those circular tiles, and the floor tiles that look like fabric. Gorgeous. What colour is that again? It looks greyish on my monitor.

Holligator -- I am so glad to do you any kind of favor. Your kitchen with that beautiful soapstone was one of my first inspirations for using soapstone in my kitchen -- which we love above all things (if you look at the bathroom pics below you may be able to see the soapstone I snuck in there as well). And it's funny what you said about your husband liking black. Mine does too, as long as it's not shiny (which made soapstone perfect for us). So what goes around comes around on GW! I love that. Anyway, the floor definitely doesn't show dirt (even with a muddy-footed dog running around!). That's a bit hard to see in the pics (where the flash shows up every piece of lint) but in real life they just look good. We're very pleased (we had a great tile guy who was meticulous in laying and spacing the tiles, which were on a very loose mesh backing). It took some looking to find larger format hex tile. The tile we ended up with is American Universal in a matte black, 1.5-inch size. I really like the matte look (the penny tiles on Door 16 are matte black, from Nemo Tile in NY, with black grout) and I'm glad we went with the slightly larger tiles (the other choice was one-inch tiles, which were easily found at Daltile). The American Universal tiles were shipped from California (although the box says made in Japan) and had a lead time of a week or so; my impression is that they are fairly widely available (we got them from a local tile store). These photos aren't great (and the trim on the new pocket door is still not painted!) but maybe they'll give you an idea. The first is probably the best representation of the way the floor actually looks. From August 12, 2011 I think the flash in this one is making the grout look lighter than it reads in real life and the tile shinier. From August 12, 2011 Good luck with your powder room. thanks grandma...after reading palimpsests next post, I guess I am agreeing with you! palimpsest-I like the idea of high gloss, but our walls have a lot of imperfections. The idea for black came to me because we do plan on TOTALLY redoing it in a few years...tile, sinks,cabinets...bumping out the shower to make it bigger...a really big project. So, I was willing to go "funky" in the meantime. I did a ralph lauren metallic in the second bathroom...a shark colored silver...and it looks like cr@p due to all the imperfections on the walls! Made me sad...my DH does all the work around the house...this was *my* little project that I wanted to surprise him with... I picked the paint myself without consulting him, did the painting myself..it was a mistake! He chuckles at me every time he sees those walls! I will rethink the chalkboard paint. I just have a can sitting here and I want to use it. BUT...that's not enough reason to do it. Thanks again!

Katie, what did you end up buying? I'm considering the Kohl Purist collection for two bathrooms in either matte black or polished silver. I'm worried the black will be harder to keep clean and may be out of style sooner too.
