Your dinner sounds so good, Ont gal. I just finished making corn chowder, but I'm not happy with it. I put in a can of creamed corn and didn't realize the salt content. I'm not a salt lover. Maybe the family won't mind. I think I'll make spaghetti and meatballs as back up.

I just finished mine. Starting work in 20 minutes.

I cooked 2 sausages in my air fryer, and sauteed onions, peppers and celery. Simmered the sausages and vegetables in a 'red sauce'. Ketchup, worcestershire, brown sugar, vinegar, yellow mustard and some water. Have made this for decades. Crashed potatoes to have with it. (cooked whole small potatoes, flattened with a glass or a potato masher, then drizzled with oil, s&p, then baked). I put them in the air-fryer while the sausages were simmering.

My sister just stopped by with a Costco rotisserie chicken, which we chopped in half. Not sure what I'll be having with it.........or maybe I'll just make a sandwich from it.

Beef stroganoff. I add some horseradish to it...yum!

Bagels, lox, onions, and cream cheese. The lox is the best part.

old fashioned chicken salad with club crisps

DH is making supper today, yayyy. It's a lower fat beef stew that has a bit of a sauerbraten flavor, contributed in part by a cup of beer in the recipe. We will likely have salad to go with it, and tomorrow we will have a baguette to go with the leftovers.

VgQn is cooking up a beef stew tonite from leftovers of the Flat Iron Steak we had the other night. Flat Iron is similar to a Brisket but we find it a lot less fatty (almost none) and more tender too. Frozen peas & carrots will be added along with some store bought potatoes, she seasons to taste just like my Mom used to do, can't tell the difference.

I skinned chicken thighs. Stewed them in the crockpot. Brown rice on the side, peas & gravy to put over it all. ♥

Tonight for dinner it will be meat loaf with queen anne potatoes. I have not made those potatoes for quite some time. Dessert will be Irish coffee cake that I made this morning.

Vgkg, Flat iron is one of my favorite cuts of steak. I love the flavor.

Lucille, When my husband was in Officer Indoctrination School (who signs up for being indictrinated, I know it sounds weird), he said he was the only person to eat the liver and onions.

I cooked SO some salmon patties, herbed rice and biscuits before I went to work. I stopped and got an Italian sandwich and a giant bowl of cut up fruit from Publix on the way. With a cherry coke zero. Its technically my breakfast but I will eat it around everyone elses dinner time so I think it qualifies. Trying to stay out of my Halloween treat bowls I have stocked in here. But those Takis and reeses are calling me.....

I made make-ahead mashed potatoes for Thanksgiving (a week from today in Canada) along with some stuffed mushrooms to freeze for appies. Since I was chopping and peeling potatoes, decided on potato soup for dinner, along with a few stuffed mushrooms that I held back.

Well I did make it to the beach. Just finished a wonderful meal at one of my favorite little hole in the wall Greek places. Lamb kebab, Greek salad, rice and warm seasoned pita with tzatziki. I stopped for a white spumoni cone at the local ice cream place before heading home.

I also love liver, always have.

I roasted chicken legs in the oven ... and then gave them the 'wing treatment' with a homemade spicy concotion ...

Tonight will be grilled salmon burgers and a side of sauteed squash, yellow and zucchini, with onions, garlic, green pepper in olive oil with bonnes herbs.

Thanks orchidrain! My lunch is inspired by you. Leftover alfredo sauce (also known as cream, garlic, and some cheese), a turkey leg, and I shortly had corn chowder with a protein. Might have tossed in a jalapeno and added some Cajun seasoning. I'm not sure what to call it except for chowder. Cajun chowder? Cajun corn and turkey chowder? Filling and comforting. Thanks!!!

My brother and SIL are in town visiting this week. We are going over to my cousin's house for dinner and picking up some BBQ at Joe's Kansas City BBQ on the way. We just placed the pickup order. A slab of ribs, pound each of pulled pork, brisket, and burnt ends. And for sides...fries, potato salad, beans, and coleslaw.

That is far too much for 6 people so I think we will be having the same thing again for lunch tomorrow!

Thanks, Ont_Gal! When you mentioned the Scottish Mystery I thought of something my stepmother used to make. She was the daughter of Scottish immigrants, and two of the Scottish dishes she used to serve were "Finnan Haddie" (smoked haddock cooked in milk) and something called collops. I remember collops as ground beef and onions in gravy, served on mashed potatoes. It was never a favorite of mine, so I never asked for the recipe. But all of a sudden, reading your post, I wanted to have it again.

So I looked up the recipe, and found several that called for veal--and then one for Minced Collops made with ground beef and steel-cut oats. That sounded right. So to answer your question, tonight I'm having minced collops for dinner. No mashed potatoes, however, as I'm allergic, unfortunately.

I had was a chicken breast that I got at our local grocery store deli...fried chicken. I made a late run to Walmart after I fed the horses their evening meal, and the only thing I had after that was a blueberry muffin that I ate on the way home. I have some shrimp in the freezer that I have been planning to cook for several days now. Always putting it off because I haven't gotten around to making tartar sauce. I have been very busy making arrangements for a new horse, who is to be a friend for Emery. He arrived today, and I am worn out. Maybe shrimp tonight.

Tuna Helper cheesy macaroni, baked butternut squash from the garden with butter, brown sugar and pecans and maybe some tomatoes. I made most of it not too long ago and will take a "lunch" break from work at 7 so I can warm it up and we can all eat together.

I have been trying to use what I have in the freezer, so I will be creative tonight with a handful of frozen shrimp, broccoli, and rice. I figure with butter, olive oil, onion and garlic I cannot go wrong.

I stopped at Hardees this morning on the way home and got SO 2 steak biscuits. He ate one and saved the other to eat this afternoon. How that man survives on so little baffles me, and makes me jealous if I am honest. I stopped on my way to work and got some salt and pepper chicken with rice. Its not good and the cats at work are eating it now. They seem to like it okay. I ate enough of it to where I wont STARVE before I get off work at 5am, but I am annoyed that I had to waste calories on non delicious food.

Home made pizza, Margarita with tons of fresh basil, crudités, lemon, or raspberry sorbet for desert.

I made a pot of chili yesterday and skillet cornbread. Will be having the leftovers tonight.
