None of these are tropical as such, but I’m posting for the use of colors and textiles, as well as the warmth and upbeat feel.

I agree that pairing the banana leaf w b/w always looks great. Keeps thing from skewing overly "Tiki hut."

i would add the baskets that are shown under the daybed. Not sure if you posted that before, but it's something I've been meaning to do with one of our daybeds. Its keeps it from looking to bed-like IMHO.

Robo, I’ve heard Dorothy Draper’s use of color called ”riotous.” I think that pretty much nails it.😂

Maybe add a Slim Aarons print? Perhaps not this one because I think it has been overused, but I’m posting it for ”atmosphere.” You can find reproductions all over the internet.

Jinx - thanks so much for all your wonderful photos! I SO love the color scheme in the third picture you posted. I wish I had more ovaries to go with a darker paint color. I'm always drawn to the light pastels to try to maximize light.

This layout shows an 8x10 rug. Is that about the right size?

The radiator is hot water (not steam) so I can drape freely around it.

Random note: I also have a daybed in my office and discovered that two king pillows side by side create the perfect size ”sofa back” — then I added a few more smaller pillows.

The thing I'm thinking about is it will be the backdrop for your office zoom sessions and I'm not sure a shade of pink will work. But you'd know better than I.

Maybe mtnrd will step in. She had a particular shade of pink that was just lovely IIRC...that had a warmer undertone rather than a brighter one...not too precious. But I'll be dipped if I can remember what it was.

When adding textiles, I'd choose the area rug and curtains first, and go from there. I like your bed cover but it limits your choice in color and pattern. You don't want the room to look busy because it's small.

Think outside the box for coastal decor. You can also go the sunroom route too.

This rug adds warmth to the room because of it's texture and colors. With a bright room a rug like this adds cheerfulness. I like having a pattern in the rug with solid color pillows and a subtle pattern in curtains to match the rug.

IMO, rugs are the most important aspect of a room. Don't go boring. :)

I think the pink could work! I love patterns mixed/matched in a room!

Are you married to that particular bed cover? I adore some of the colorful rooms above. I'm thinking perhaps a different bed cover might make the room flow more with the rest of your home, rather than becoming "themey". Just my 2 cents worth!!

PS I love those baskets under the bed in the first pic! Hope you steal that idea.

I have to say, some of those pinks are absolutely gorgeous. Our old LR had deep pink walls, with forest green furniture. The sofa was the only pattern. I miss it.

I’m not too concerned about keeping it staid. they just redid our office building in violent orange and turquoise.

I found the old thread and the pink mtnrd used was BM Gentle Butterfly....

I like SW Alluring White . To me its the perfect light peachy pink.

You could go crazy and paint your ceiling a blue tint, three walls in Alluring white and one wall or bookcases the green above.

Robo, for a tropical vibe, I’d go with a jute or seagrass rug (never sisal!). If your chair is going to need to roll over it, then seagrass may be the better choice. I have had a seagrass rug in my breakfast room for 7 years. I’d do it again in a minute.

If you prefer jute, a softer rug which is also more absorbent, you might look at Overstock.

You mentioned that you would also be getting a ceiling fan. I have a tendency to go with the plainest white fan you can find. It will blend into the ceiling (assuming the ceiling is white) and not be noticeable.

Paint: if you want a hint of pink try Benjamin Moore Intimate White.

I love your plan-- your work space should be inspiring and motivational. If a tropical design and sunny colors will make you feel ready to face the day no matter the weather and temps, i say go for it!

I love pale pink-- but do i remember from past wardrobe posts that blues/greens are more flattering for you than pastels? I am a firm believer that our personal rooms should be in colors that compliment us-- especially if the walls will be a backdrop to your video meetings. I may not be remembering correctly and pink may be perfect-- but whatever you choose, make sure it looks great behind your face!

I really like the fabric for your daybed. I don't find a sterile or traditional office space to be all that conducive to great ideas or work. You want to keep it neat and professional but that doesn't discount being creative and personal.
