Do you like squash?

If so, what kind? How do you like to make it? My favorite squash is Delicata. I grew an odd shaped variety this year (Sweet Dumpling) and so far have only gotten one squash and there's one sad one on the vine still. I made it for dinner tonight as a tiny side dish. A little butter, grilled in my toaster oven. I like it because it has a nutty flavor to it. I saved the seeds from this one because next year I'll be alone and it's the perfect size for one person.

I also grew some butternut squash and spaghetti squash which are okay. I had multiple volunteers too. I gave away about 10 of the first batch of spaghetti squash and have so many left. I've also been eating the blossoms hoping I don't end up with a ton more of the squash. Plus, the blossoms are so good. Went out in the side yard today and there are a couple massive spaghetti squash out there. I may take those to the food pantry.

Next to the Delicata, I think I like the blossoms the best. I also like summer squash but we got so much rain and the chipmunk out back have been eating any new plants. I've replanted multiple times and finally have two plants that are now blooming. I may get a couple squash before the first frost.

While waiting on the summer squash to grow/survive I've been picking the Spaghetti squash early and eating it like summer squash. My favorite way to eat summer squash is either grilled with a little olive oil or sauteed with onions and mushrooms and eaten over white rice. I also like them in omelettes or in just a stir fry with some type of meat.

Louis, my Korean student hasn't liked any of the squash so far, until we had the Delicata tonight. Too bad so few grew.

One thing I hate about Winter squash is trying to cut them open without stabbing yourself.
