I hear you on wanting seating in the kitchen. I tried and tried and finally decided against it. I just didn't have the space. And instead I have tons of well laid out prep space and I can talk to people at the peninsula/DR and - added bonus as a retired dancer - I have a large open floor space where I can do pirouettes and other steps! You may not need this option! :) But our layouts are actually pretty different - we don't have an eat in table at all - we do all meals in the DR - so not much help to you. What about... Put the fridge on the sink wall - end of run by the table. Center the sink under the window. Put the DW on the right (between fridge and sink) and you'll likely have room for another cab/drawer there. Put the trash pullout to the left of the sink - that way it's in your prep area - and then work your way around the corner with various cabs/drawers - keeping the stove on the bottom wall. You could put your extra oven in a tall cabinet now on that wall, too, if you wanted (where you show the fridge i nyour first two plans on the first post) I was set on putting my trash under the sink and KD talked me out of it - SO glad. In a family of six like yours, you need access to the trash that isn't under the sink and you'll have the space for it. (You need to get to it while the kids do the dishes after all! ;-) ) I'd keep the shallow pantries on the far wall. Put the micro in that snack area. If the fridge is right across the aisle from it, you won't need to waste that storage space with an extra fridge drawer or a prep sink b/c you'll (I assume) have water at the fridge? I did not want water in my fridge but DH insisted - it is SO easy to fill the coffee carafe right there!! You can also use the kitchen end of that snack bar for the overhang to tuck a little stool under - I don't think you want anything protruding out into the kitchen in that area as it will totally block the view/flow from the front door.

Does anyone have any pictures of Medallion Cabinets with a base cabinet and a wine cube next to a base cabinet. I want to install a peninsula with seating on one side and at the end of the peninsula (the part that is seen when you come into the kitchen) use an 18" or 24" deep base cabinet with drawers (so it looks more like furniture) and next to it place a wine cube so the granite can sit on top of the base cabinets and the wine cube. HELP!! Did anyone use Medallion wine cubes on the base?

We keep the food processors (little 2 cup one for little jobs like dressing emulsification and grinding small amounts of stuff and 12 cup one for jobs like big batch of pesto, big grating jobs, pie crust, etc.), stick blender, mortars and pestles in the prep sink cabinet. A dual outlet is on a false drawer front on the prep sink cabinet so they plug in right in the prep area. There is also a dual outlet under the seating overhang next to each corner of the seating side. The 12" cabinet behind the prep sink (with a door next to the prep sink on the side of the island) has a pull out with a custom insert my husband made to fit the food processor accessories. That makes it easy to plug in accessories either in the main prep space next to the prep sink or on the side of the island next to the prep sink - which sometimes happens when two of us are prepping at the same time. This shows the prep sink with its outlet: Blender (which I don't use that much for food prep) is on the perimeter counter across the aisle from the main island prep area. It's a turn and a few steps away and I can take the container from it to the prep area to fill and then put it back in place to blend so it isn't a problem having it on the other side of the aisle. Mixer and bread machine are on the perimeter in the baking area. View from the other side showing the bigger picture including the blender. The baking area is next to the main sink at the right in the picture. The kitchen is ~5 years old in this picture so the natural cherry has aged to its final color. The floor had just been replaced and cherry toe kick covers hadn't been reinstalled when it was taken.

Much will depend on you budget and how open you want your home. If you take down part of the wall, you would need to run the peninsula all the way to the present doorway or else you will need to repair the floor - which would depend on if you have any left over flooring to do the repair. It would be much less $ to have it come off the wall. If you want to have some cabinets below, you will want to see how difficult would it be to match your present cabinets.
