Would some of you help me pare this seed list down?
Comments (6)Thanks so much for your warm welcoming attitude, Pitt. I just didn't want to post too much. I have a tendency to want to grow EVERYTHING that is gorgeous and interesting to ME, and very often customers want to know what "this" flower is and "that" flower is, never knowing it existed! There are some here that are OBVIOUSLY not suitable for cutting (stem length-alyssum/hollyhock/morning glory, too "wild & rangy"-like ratibida, not long enough lasting-papaver?, or just not worth it in a zone with a short growing season like mine) but if something here "seems" unable to be cut, but YOU KNOW CAN be cut for SHORT bouquets, please inform me! I don't have that much more room in my yard, so I really need to pare this list down! Also, if any of these are much better GROWING FROM AN ESTABLISHED PLANT, instead of by my starting from seed, would you mind letting me know? PS-I don't have any phlox yet! :0) Agastache foeniculum Lavender Hyssop Agastache Tutti frutti Agastache rupestris Alcea Dwarf Hollyhock Majorette Mix Alcea Hollyhock Old Farmyard Mix Alcea rosea Nigra-singles Alcea rosea (hot pink hollyhock) Alcea rosea (single pink,dk.pk.throat) Alyssum Royal Carpet Amaranthus Intense Purple-tall Ammi majus Antirrhinum Gumdrop Mix Antirrhinum Large snap mix Antirrhinum Tetra Mix Aquilegia (pink) Aquilegia (yellow) Aquilegia Bonnets (pinks) Aquilegia Mrs. Scott Ellis Aquilegia Ruby Port Aquilegia Wm. Would you go bigger if you could go back?
Comments (10)In the case of refrigerators, bigger is better. Since you're hoping to eliminate the deep freeze in the pantry, you will need to make sure you have PLENTY of freezer space. Many of the larger cu ft fridges have more fridge space but the freezer space is the same as smaller cu ft fridges. I second the Samsung recommendation. We have the Kenmore Elite badged Samsung counter depth. We chose the Kenmore version because with all else being the same, I liked the handles better. The one thing I didn't believe was true when the salesman said it, was that the fruits & veggies would stay fresh longer. Well, we've been in the new house 6 months and by golly, he was right! Pleasantly surprised :-) That would come in handy for storing the raw ingredients for the baby food. It is also quiet--you can't even hear it running except for when the ice drops into the bin. Some have reported problems with their icemakers, but we have had no problems--the icemaker will put itself in the 'Off' mode if the bin is super full. There's a reset button for that that I think alot of people miss. Since you're also looking at Kenmore, remember that Kenmore appliances are made by a myriad of different companies. In the fridge department alone you've got Whirlpool, LG, Kitchen Aid, Samsung & GE making refrigerators with a Kenmore badge. You'll want to check reviews on both the Kenmore badged refrigerator as well as the one with the manufacturer's label on it. Generally you can tell which manufacturer made a particular model by the ice maker and/or the cooling system design as they typically use the same ones in the Kenmore that they do in their regular lineup ;-) Here's a link to the full size Samsung that we bought the counter depth version of. It's one of the largest 36" wide refrigerators on the market at 29.6 cuft. It only has 1 review and the guy gave the fridge 1 star because he was having problems with the apps (yes, you read that right--the apps). Who buys a fridge for the apps, for heaven's sake?!? Anyway, hope this helps & congrats on your new baby! Here is a link that might be useful: Samsung 29.6 cu ft Refrigerator...See Moreare mortgage rates going to go down?
Comments (4)I wouldn't bet my firstborn on such a proposition. It's the (short-term) low rates recently that have got so many homebuyers into trouble, when, after the initial term of the contract expired, and the rate increased rather drastically, judged that there was no way that they could afford those payments. With many such houses being put up for sale, house prices have been suffering some substantial drops in a number of markets. In many cases, the only price that will entice buyer interest is one lower than the amount still owing on the loan. So many who can't afford the higher payments, and can't sell the house for enough to pay off the mortgage ... just walk away. They might be better off trying hard to sell the house themselves, for the associated expenses will usually be lower than if the financial institution must foreclose, then sell it, and the possibility is that the owner can get a higher price than the financial institution. If the lender can find the former owner, and it's getting increasingly difficult to hide, that owner will almost certainly be presented with a bill for the difference, plus the costs associated with the sale. Not a pleasant situation. ole joyful...See MoreWhat are you going to do when you are down to one mortgage?
Comments (14)1. Pay off the improvements that we have had to make on the new house despite having a mortgage and heloc on the old house (furnace, exterior doors, insulation) 2. Make that savings account we are all supposed to have with 6 months of expenses (thanks terriks). 3. Get new windows to replace the leaky aluminum framed ones. 4. Hardwoods or cork floors in halls and kitchen/dining and den, tile with an electric heat pad in foyer, tile in half bath and laundry room. 5. New cabinets and an island in the kitchen with 38 inch counter height and a single bowl sink with a decent garbage disposal and nice laminate counter tops. The cabs may be locally made custom, but I can save $$$ by getting laminate counter tops. 6. Hardwood on bedroom floor or tear out the 1978 main bath and redo with new tile and tub and decently high cabs with drawers for storage. 7. Whatever we did not do in #6. 8. OMG! We still have that hideous wall-o-brown-brick 1978 fireplace in the den! DO SOMETHING - cover with wood, tear 3/4 of it down and make the smaller fireplace nice by covering with stone, do something to lessen the dark cave effect. Put in an efficient gas insert or a pellet insert if gas prices have skyrocketed. 8. By now it is time to re-roof!...See More
