Black would look amazing with your brick. It is trendier than white. But if you like it now, I say go for it :)

Yes, and once they're "out", they'll be difficult /expensive to replace. They're more of a "modern farmhouse" thing /don't go well with brick houses like yours, though with the black front door it'd work better than some others.

I agree with Mrs. Pete. I do not think they would go with your brick.

What about a dark brown, bronze or even a dark taupe for your windows. Not as trendy as black and goes better with your warm brick colors. I would try to match the darkest color from your brick.

Thanks all - I guess I don’t necessarily see it as “modern farmhouse” as I have seen it on older homes. I wondered about a more neutral color but on the mark ups- I didn’t care for them. Let me try to share those….

Yes, black is a trend. My friend just did them in an ADU he built. They are black aluminum inside and out and they show every bit of dust within days... so unless you a really good house keeper or have a maid that does windows I suggest you avoid them. My friends windows need to be detailed after just a few months.

Looking at your mock-up of black windows, what jumps out at me is the white trim on the gables and the white garage doors.

Alternative: don't obsess over some dust on the window frames.

White dust collecting in the black crevasses is not a good look. I suggested he use canned air to blast it out instead of wet wiping it into the seams.

Yes, and it will be hard to replace them. Besides that looking at the mockups ^^ it reminds me the family adams castle with the black windows :O

If you like your current trim color I would go with something similar to that. Keep in mind if you choose black windows and don't have good shades on the back of them, they will look like black holes during the day. If you do go with black on the outside, pick a different color for the inside, that way you won't always have to be decorating around black windows. Black windows are super trendy right now, as others have said, and they aren't right for every house.

Our previous home had a stone exterior on two sides. When we replaced the windows (ten years ago) we paid a small upcharge to get an off-white as white was too stark against the stone. With Pella windows, we were able to have them be white inside and the creamier color outside. At another house in our neighborhood which was also stone, a flipper chose black. I didn't care for it, although I suppose someone liked it as someone did buy the house. Windows are an expensive and relatively permanent choice. While it sounds like some people think black is trendy and some people don't, no one is going to tell you that white or off-white is trendy. IMO, an off-white would look better than white with your brick. For me, black is just as stark as white against your brick, so they're equally unattractive.

Its the stupid "modern farmhouse" that is the fad. Its like having a "classy mullet".

Black window exteriors are timeless when used appropriately. Just don't decorate your home with junk built from old pallets, and it will look nice on your home.

Black windows are unlikely to go out ofstyle because they aren't a new fad. They go nicely with modern designs as well as a wide range of different house types.

I think black is a bit harsh, how about a dark slate gray.

As mentioned earlier I would use Dark Bronze.

My brick has a similar tone. We switched to black windows last year, and they are amazing! What a face lift too!

And by the way, the home I grew up in most of my childhood was built in 1984 and had white brick, black roof and black windows. It was great then, and it still is.

Black will cost you more but will look beautiful, will go great with your roof.

@OTM Designs. Thank you for this input - we selected the roof a few years ago, and have slowly been bringing the house up to date since we purchased it four years ago (as is sale - and it was a mess).
