Comments (4)Brazilian Cherry darkens when exposed to "light". That means sunlight, overhead lights, moon light, flash lights, candle light, etc. You would have to find a "UV blocker" that WORKS with Brazilian Cherry. I know Loba makes UV Protect for Maple, but I'm not sure if it works for exotic hardwoods. I have not heard that Bona makes a UV protection product....but they might. As for "keeping them as light as possible" - keep the shades drawn and do not turn on the lights....as "cheeky" as my answer seems, it is very sadly the truth. And Brazilian Cherry has TWO different colour presentations: lava-red/orange/brown OR PINK/purple/brandy. Because you have not seen the colour of your floors before (they were coated in stain) you will not know which colour presentation you have until AFTER the floor is finished. It takes 2 weeks - 6 months for Brazilian Cherry to reach it's "terminal" colour (the darkest, richest colour). Until that time, they will get stronger and stronger in colour. Do NOT put down area rugs for at least 6 months....See MoreGray paint with Brazilian cherry flooring?
Comments (1)We have Brazilian cherry that is 22 years old . We use bona Chemi traffic to finish at that time. We are finally refinishing.. after four sons and 4 dogs it still looks great. As I said it has never been really red. In fact, I was disappointed, at that time, back in the day, they never turned really red. It was probably due to the fact that I used a water borne sealer. It is wonderful for a house full of kids and dogs and held up much better than my friends oak and maple. I can't wait to see it refinished and know that it will be a slight reddish brown. Hope whoever we sell too loves it!...See MoreKitchen Remodel Help with Brazilian Cherry Floors
Comments (7)I have Taj Mahal and we love it. It would look beautiful but it is more expensive than some choices. Your backsplash needs to be very quiet if you use any stone with veining or movement. Simple tiles with color that works with cabinet color....See MoreJackie Johnson
