Please help me with my mini-kitchen reno
Comments (3)I went on Houzz and looked a some beadboard kitchens...that was my thought, can one have too much beadboard! There were several with it throughout, so it doesn't appear to be too much after all. I want to go dark on the lowers because it's just so stinking hard to keep them clean in the cream color. (the dark will show more dog hair, but less dirt!). Definitely keeping the creamy color on the walls and upper cabs. I might do the red on the inside of the open cabs, tho...like I have in the pantry. I do love the b/w, but I don't want to do the whole kitchen walls in the red since the adjoining dining area is the same red as the backsplash. I am excited to start working on this project!! I have been lusting after open cabinets for a long time, and I have finally made the commitment to do so. Fortunately my dishes all coordinate now, so I feel like I can pull it off!...See MoreMini kitchen redo help please
Comments (4)Are those pictures of your new kitchen taken when you went to see the house? Wow, they didn't stage it very well if so. Are you planning on getting a new countertop? If so I would wait on the backsplash until then. I think you can do a lot with that kitchen with wall paint, new hardware, and some pretty accessories....See MoreExtreme budget mini makeover ideas !

Now that I have decided on a partial overlay I'm sort of excited about a cute two tone kitchen for son with better function. Imagine having wall cabinets deeper than 10 3/4" so you could easily get a plate in there. Or, adjustable shelves that you could put cereal boxes or coffee supplies and even a container of cooking oil. And, a corner cabinet that would actually fit med sized serving bowls...oh the luxury! The other change will be putting a microwave over the range to free up counter space. That area above will require a smaller custom size cabinet, maybe, need to re-measure. Down the road after son pays for a new flat roof over patio and a few other expenses he can do the bottom half, or, not. This townhouse is in more of a "starter" community. It's nice but there is a limit to how much to spend on remodels. He did the important stuff like new a/c , water heater and updated baths/plumbing and more. So, need to re-measure and perhaps also get a quote from Conestoga's lower line as well. So many cute kitchens in two tone....See MoreKitchen Mini -Makeover help please
Comments (32)I think the biggest thing you are fighting is the dark floor. You have over come this in the dinning area with large white area rugs. I don't know how practical it is to do the same in the kitchen. I love the look of long kitchen runners, but would hate to clean them. I think the most important thing to ask is budget. If you have the budget for painting all of the cabinets, I'd go for it. Lastly, I am swooning over your copper pot collection. Gorgeous. Do you use them on a daily basis? I think it is a tragedy the way they are hung. There is not enough room to see them all jammed together and in front of the window. My brother is a chef and has phenomenal French copper pots. He keeps them hanging in his dining room and they look great. He doesn't use them often. I would also get white stool that match the dining room chairs. It will tie the spaces together and add more bright color to the kitchen area. I'd paint the back door the same color as the wall too, including the frame....See Morebmorepanic
