Looking for new shower system

I am remodeling my master bathroom and need suggestions for a new mid priced shower sytem. My research shows that while there are many brands available, replacing parts could be a problem down the line. Should I stick with Delta or Kohler? Is there any particular sytem that you woud highly recommend?

Do you have a Ferguson by you? We went in and “tested” the shower systems, they have a full shower setup so you can put your hands in there and see how the shower head works. Very important in my opinion…what looks nicest is not always the best system.

Look for a Ferguson and call to see if they have their water display set up and operating. The one near me does not. Then also search for local plumbing supply stores. There’s a great independent one about 45 minutes from me (Houston) that has a huge water display always hooked up and ready.

Just wonder what would make the huge price difference. The thing I don't like the american standard is that the hose is at the end of the rod, meaning it would probably drop to the ground when not used, if not hand it somewhere else. Thoughts?

I have a half-ton window unit that with large floor type fan cools 1200-sf per/ton in 100ÃÂ°F weather. On July 18, 2011, as reported on WI Public Radio; very near me, Prairie du Chien, WI had a Heat Index of 127ÃÂ°F, yes, 127ÃÂ°F Heat Index! All shades pulled, etc., my little Half-Ton first floor A/C cooled all rooms to 76ÃÂ°F or 77ÃÂ°F & and rarely above 55% relative humidity; with good air movement, -- totally comfortable all day. The same for the up-stair's less than Half-Ton window A/C, cools my bedroom, hallway & bathroom; I use a Wind Machine 3300 to move the air throughout the rooms, both on first & 2nd floors. Thanks David.We live in Northern Lower Michigan, just above the 45th parallel. We do not have Natural Gas and Propane is our fuel source other than electric. My understanding is that we will seldom need the back up heat. The boiler set up seems like it will give us much more control over the basement climate and an endless supply of domestic hot water but it also seems like it will cost us a lot more in the long run vs. something like a Marathon Electric HWH. I also should say that your number is higher than any of the three I have gotten so far. This makes me less comfortable with the lowest number as I see many warn about cheap installs!

Hi, with regards to Delta I can definitely offer some advice. If you have read about anybody having issues with the water temperature not being hot enough, that likely can be fixed in a matter of minutes by adjusting the rotational limit stop. Essentially there is a small plastic insert under the handle that prevents the water from getting too hot and scalding you. At the time of installation, that insert may have been installed incorrectly. You can typically rotate it and the problem will be immediately fixed. read our buying a shower system guide for more information on Delta shower systems. Current reviews of faucet manufacturers lists Delta and Moen as top mid-range manufacturers. This site has great reviews and corporate info. http://www.starcraftcustombuilders.com/sources.faucets.Best.Value.htm

For a shower fixtures that are moderately priced, I wouldn't get anything other than Delta or Moen. They are high quality and parts will always be accessible if needed.

Faucets are easily replaceable but you really do want to get the best shower fixtures possible because they are not as easily replaced.

Does anyone have experience on Phylrich shower systems?

I have Phylrich shower fixtures as well as bathroom faucets.

They were great to work with as I wanted blush onyx in the master bath and they did that custom for me. The styke I wanted didn’t come with that option althiugh other styles did.

They are a California company. The actual shower head is kade for them by Speakman.
