Remodeling Design Dilemma Kitchens

Help with kitchen backsplash?

I am in the midst of a kitchen remodel and need suggestions for a backsplash tile. The cabinets are Sherwin Williams Alabaster, countertops MCI Calacatta Valentin, natural red oak floors, stainless appliances and brushed nickel pulls. Can anyone make a suggestion for a back splash tile. I'm leading towards a subway tile look but also open to suggestions. Thanks!

You will need to post photos of your selections, your space, as well as any inspiration photos you may have.

With all the whites you really need to go to the tile store & bring samples home. It's so hard to get a good match with white. I would keep it light. You could go with a light gray. Fireclay or Encore has some great options.

The ceramic needs to be built out. In the following pic you'll see on either side of the window, where the accent stripe comes into the outlets and switches. That stripe, without doing anything to the tumbled marble, would've stood proud by about a shy 1/8", in which case, as you're finding out now, there'd be a gap behind the face plate. You might want to pull the ceramic pieces and build them out a bit.

wow. what a difference! now those white tiles don't look too bright against the wall. maybe the middle ones. the dirty looking cream ones, I don't like at all. and the floor tiles,,,the ones in the upper right. the white/gray are too gray, the left uppers are too beige and too short. you want longer tiles. lets wait for the tilebar samples. what do you think about some new hardware? i might consider painting the window trim if you do a white tile.

i dont' think i would do white... very difficult to get right with the cabs...if u can find the right shade and u like it, go for it... maybe a very soft shade of blue to pull in your cabs... but of course it has to be in the same tone as the cabs... a matte tile or satin - light sheen. i would not do a gloss/glass tile i hesitate to say gray b/c its been done to death.... maybe a gray/blue? i do like a 6x6 tile... just to get away from a subway... whatever u choose, have grout to match as close as u can, so the b/s just sits in the background. bring home lots a samples to see in your space with your lights and natural light.

I think it looks good! I have a dark backsplash, and yes it does look a black hole without the undercabinet lights on, those lights will make a world of difference. Your paint choice is wide open -- so much will go with your cabinet/counter combo. I would suggest staying away from muddy colors (like the one you currently have) or anything with too warmth -- stick with cleaner colors. What general color direction would coordinate with the rest of the space/house?

Space is still a very rough work in progress. Cabinet doors don’t come in until the very end.

Look at the Chloe tiles. They’re simple, organic and have lovely texture.
You can do so much with the texture of the tile and the way you lay it out.
Pick a simple tile that you like and you can do brick pattern

Straight set

Or lay it vertical

Herringbone ....

So many options!! Kitchen looks amazing already!!
