Design Around This #2- Artwork Inspired Room
Comments (127)Pal - I thought same as Annie....Naaaaw not Kincade! I actually really liked the floral painting in your design though. I came across it in one of my searches last night. Humph, but I already forget now the artists name! This is such a great exercise for the mind. Mine has been really REALLY out of shape for years. "Personally embellished". Ha! Now we know his technique for achieving the shimmering highlights of morning dew glistening of each leaf or that diamond glint on a trickling brook. His DNA signed works cost extra. I remember as a teen going to a Kincade gallery. It was in the Mall. It was like walking into a dark cavern. The paintings would have small picture lights above each. But some special works had tiny lights embedded somehow behind the frame so the street lamps and house windows lit up. Now that is realism! Annie - That's awesome! The houzz pics droopy chair is absolutely perfect. Cawaps - I love your interpretation room! The ant on the red half round table is my favorite. I want to try my own, but I am not sure how you guys do these. I am using an iPad. Does anyone know if there is an apple app to make these boards? I will look, but for now I will watch and learn. Thanks jlc for starting this thread. I love the ideas of DAT based on your pet, a song or musician, and the craigslist one sounds really fun....See MoreWWYD... continued.... how to bridge modern, Art Deco, French
Comments (37)Well I thought I would follow up with a few pics of the final result. Thanks for the ideas and suggestions. As you may recall, this was the second of the properties we put an offer on, and the final result ended up looking a bit less French and Provencal than our first property choice, and maybe more urban and Cote d'Azur than the descriptions above (and smaller!). I still have to tweak. Due to challenges in sourcing overseas and the limitations of budgets and sources, some stuff (art, accessories) are not what I'd like it to be eventually. Think we could use a bench in the master, as well, and I'd like to play around with the furniture layout. Oh, and we had a larger table on order for the balcony, this one will move to the side if we go ahead with the replacement. Please excuse the staging. The photos below are from our listing but are better than the iphone pics that I have from our local contacts. Comments (74)The three pieces of art fit the entry well, and a grouping of three is better than four. Art does not need to "match" your rug, or anything else. Do you like the botanicals? Is that the first thing you want people to see when entering your home? Personally, I would look for brighter, fresher, art for that space. But the botanicals work there if you like them....See MoreDining Room - need help with wall art/accessories!
Comments (92)You're dining room looks lovely, I love the neutral wall colors. I believe these work by Avaulte artist Bronle Crosby would be a lovely compliment to the room. The first one is titled 'Birds Eye View" and is 24"x18". I believe the neutrality of this painting along with the pops of color would be a beautiful addition to the room. This next image by Avaulte artist Bronle Crosby is titled 'Still Waters' and is 36"x26.5". The simplicity and stillness of the image would be a lovely feature to the dining room. I would also consider looking at works by Avaulte artist Barbara Trcinski who creates amazing figurative paintings. These could add a lovely pop of color and be a beautiful statement piece within the living room. The first is titled 'Shondra in a Purple Dress' and is 20"x16". The warm colors of the painting would compliment the wall color of the dining room well. The next work by Avaulte artist Barbara Trcinski is 'Chrysanthemums' and is 30"x24". Again I belive this could add a beautiful pop of color to the room. If you wanna see more original by either of these artists or learn more about Avaulte here are links to Bronle Crosby and Barbara Trcinski's creator pages on Avaulte. Let me know what you think!
