For Those Of You With Stained Concrete Floors
Comments (19)We have stained concrete floors and the trowel machine with paddles is what is used to put a steel trowel finish on the concrete in large warehouses. It is perfectly fine for your foundation contractor to use that. We have dings and divits in our floor, but we love it. There are actually leaves that got stuck in the concrete since we put our foundation in during the fall and the contractor couldn't keep the leaves off. ITs great. We have about 3000 SF of stained concrete. I'm looking for a fast way to sweep and scrub it. Large warehouse machines are too much. 15,000 sq ft/hr coverage. Looking for a commercial grade machine that will clean, squeegee and buff but haven't found one yet. That would make it much faster to clean. It is really easy to keep up, just time consuming because of the volume. Comments (3)New build here and we are starting stain tomorrow. Met with our stain guy today, and he made it very clear that tape shouldn't be put on the actual concrete floor at all for any reason. He said it would ruin it. I have a friend who has stained floors and the tape marks were very noticeable, they had tapped her floor as well instead of doubled paper then taping the paper down. I am afraid that you will see the tape marks with any color of stain. Hope you find something to fix it. I am sorry that they ruined your floor plan of stained concrete. It is beautiful....See MoreStaining Concrete Patio - Fireclay Concrete Stain
Comments (2)I stained a pool deck with Behr semitransparent stain. It started to flake off in under one year. Behr refunded my money, but the deck looks terrible now. A portion of the deck with new concrete is fine. I think the problem is old concrete doesn't take the stain. Plus the Behr stain is not a true acid based penetrating stain, but some kind of a glop that sits on top of the concrete. Good luck....See MoreStained Concrete vs Epoxy vs Metallic Epoxy for interior floors
Comments (5)Unless the concrete is fresh, substances might have been spilled or otherwise have gotten into existing concrete that would hamper the epoxy from bonding properly. We use this stuff a lot for concrete and stone: https://www.braxton-bragg.com/index.cfm/fuseaction/store7catalog.level/bc/0,8753/ As a general rule, the best finishes for a porous surface, like wood or concrete, sit flush with the finish surface and only act as a sealant, they don't sit on top. I've floor epoxy work well and I've seen it peel off like bad paint....See MoreKathsgrdn
