Put a cabinet under the mirror, perhaps a lamp then be done with it. No other pics needed.

I agree that nothing else should be added to the wall. It would be way too crowded and take away from the mirror, which is a great piece.

Thank you for your comments! I definitely don't want the wall to look too crowded but was hoping to add some color on either side. As mentioned, I don't think a cabinet or console under the mirror would work since there is a bedroom doorway on the right. Don't want people to walk around it or run into it. Not interested in painting that one wall.

jck910....I like the mirror and thought I would add art on either side of it for a grouping. Want to do something similar to the last picture I posted but on a better scale. My post is asking for help deciding on the size of artwork.

First question, is it centered on the wall - picture looks like it is closer to the left and not in line with the outlet. Second, how much space is on either side and what is the size of the mirror.

If I were to do art neither side it would be something about this size

My mother had 2 wall sconce candle holders that were blue pottery that would have been perfect with your rattan mirror.

Hi Jennifer. Yes, the mirror is centered on the wall. The picture is just taken at a weird angle because there is a wall directly across from the mirror. The mirror is 35" and there is 27.5" on either side o the mirror.

To get the size you need and get a set of two you may have to talk to an artist and see if they will make something for you that is the right size and will be a complementary pair.

IMO the mirror is too small and a bigger single piece of art would be a lot better or even a nice family gallery wall all the same frames since this leads into the bedroom area.

Patricia, I agree the mirror alone is too small for the wall. That is why I am interested in doing a grouping to add artwork on either side of mirror. I'm not a fan of one piece of art to fill a wall. Thx for your comments.

I would consider sculpture or something with organic lines, rather than rectangles.

Sometimes you can find small or lightweight pieces with solid backs that you can hang with 3m command picture hanging strips.

I do like the idea of candle sconces. I am a big fan of wall vases too.

Maybe look for driftwood pieces?

Resin starfish are easy to decorate with. Or lightweight pottery wall art. (I have a gorgeous pottery fish that I am trying to find a place for.) Shallow live edge floating shelves with objects leaning against the wall could be interesting.

If you are interested in sculpture, look at Arhaus, Pottery Barn, placemats, odd shaped trays, shallow centerpiece bowls, and etsy should have a ton of stuff once you get an idea of what you want.

Whatever you do, be prepared to return it, or use it somewhere else. Unless you are really good at combining art on a wall, it may take a few tries. Symmetrical candle sconces are a safer bet.

The artwork on the sides as depicted in your inspiration image works because it is part of a vignette with the table underneath. If you like the look, you can get a very slim table for under the mirror (one that won't block the guest bedroom entrance) and then "copy" your inspiration picture. If you decide to not use a slim table, I would get a single, larger piece of art for that wall and use the pretty mirror somewhere else in the house. I just don't see that adding artwork on either side of the mirror will look right if there is nothing below grounding it.

Sammie - I understand what you're saying. I am open to a narrow table below the mirror and appreciate your thoughts on that and I think it would anchor the space. I thought about the possibility of a bench at one time. While I like the 'inspiration photo' there is way too much going on in it for my taste between the wall and the dresser, lamp, and other accessories. I like a cleaner look, less cluttered. I spoke with the sales person in the store and she said she also thought the pictures were too large for the vignette. Thanks for your comments.

You could do a montage of decorative wall mirrors in different sizes. Pier 1 is having a sale. Lots of inspiration and maybe you can mock up a pic of your wall with some of their mirror pics to get some ideas.

Proportion would be important, but less so if most of the mirrors are round or novelty shapes.

A lot of the mirrors are mostly frame with small mirrors, so it’s not like you would be looking at yourself in every mirror.
