Please help me accessorize my finished kitchen! PICS
Comments (34)Rookie - You know I love your kitchen. I agree with Emily - let it happen naturally. I was surprised with my kitchen that little things like dish towels and bowls I already owned are giving me direction for accent colors. I have this great bright/slightly olive green pottery bowl with a bunch of red and yellow tomatoes in it that looks amazing with my gray/white/stainless/natural wood kitchen. I also have some nice darker blue/not quite navy towels that also look great and a vase of sunflowers were "wow". I didn't imagine these were colors that would look good but with such a neutral backdrop vibrant things just pop - real life things not props - in the kitchen. If you really want to find some "colors" - just buy a bunch of dish towels and drape then on your stove for a few days to see how it does....See MoreNeed help accessorizing my gray/white kitchen (warm it up!)
Comments (29)Love the ideas above. I'm like you love the natural and not so into colour. I've got herbs bamboo blinds and a Big end grain cutting board in our black and white kitchen. I've also got a small wool rug on the floor with deep reds and blues. The Dutch put these rugs on their tables and mine is probably too valuable to go on the floor but it sure looks nice....See Moreplease help me design my home office! need bookshelves
Comments (39)That's great you have some help. I was thinking about your office today because I am working on mine and we have a few similarities as far as size and furniture - except I don't have all the great closet space you have! I think once you have the additional furniture in there you can play with where the desk should be. The good thing is you can shuffle it around as much as you need to until you find a look that feels right. If you don't already have some, you should pick up some of those sliders that you place under furniture to help move it around - they make it really easy for one person to move things around to try various configurations. I have several sets and they have been invaluable! In some rooms, we lived with those darn sliders under our furniture for weeks as we tried, lived with, and then changed up where certain pieces of furniture went....See Moreplease help me accessorize better
Comments (7)Hi There! Decorating is one of my favorite things! May I suggest a few changes to the living room in your beautiful home? Because you have high ceilings, something tall on the mantle like an old peeling, paneled window frame will draw the eye upward (place it a-symmetrically behind a couple of your lovely lanterns). Vignettes are best done in groupings of 3. Let the gorgeous stonework of your fireplace be seen and make a statement of it's own. Sometimes "less is more". If it won't block a TV view, move the large pot of sticks with a couple lanterns to the coffee table to help balance the weight of accessories in the room (actually, the small items currently on the table are too tiny). Moving that white lrg. pot will disperse your white color a bit too. It's not imperative that all pots or lanterns stay gathered together in the room. Now put the biggest lantern where the white pots were on the hearth. You could place the other two small white pots by your bench in the foyer. Again to bring the eye up, I would suggest the big basket/container to the left of the fireplace be put on the left top of the bookcase (minus the sticks). Or if space permits, try that basket/container with the sticks on the floor at the end of the kitchen counter. If I find a mantle window frame on Houzz I'll post it. If you try these suggestions I would love to see pics. Most of all, enjoy playing around with your specially chosen accent decor....See MorePatricia Colwell Consulting
