Please help me accessorize my finished kitchen! PICS
Comments (34)Rookie - You know I love your kitchen. I agree with Emily - let it happen naturally. I was surprised with my kitchen that little things like dish towels and bowls I already owned are giving me direction for accent colors. I have this great bright/slightly olive green pottery bowl with a bunch of red and yellow tomatoes in it that looks amazing with my gray/white/stainless/natural wood kitchen. I also have some nice darker blue/not quite navy towels that also look great and a vase of sunflowers were "wow". I didn't imagine these were colors that would look good but with such a neutral backdrop vibrant things just pop - real life things not props - in the kitchen. If you really want to find some "colors" - just buy a bunch of dish towels and drape then on your stove for a few days to see how it does....See MoreWhite cabinets and grey counters - how to warm up kitchen?
Comments (6)I love 'concrete gray'. The floors will warm things up a lot and I don't think you'll have to worry about the room looking cold. Is your white creamy and warm at all? I think you have some classic material colors planned and can go many ways with backsplash. What is the overall style you're going for? Classic? Contemporary? Whimsical? Organic? What is the style of your cabinets? If you're using a cabinet style that is somewhat classic, I could see adding some color like burgundy subways. You could even do something wilder like painted Mexican tiles....Something modern like glass...or older like brick. Sticking with something the color of your cabinets with a little pizazz added in accents or a liner would be elegant....See MoreNeed help with Grout, either white, frost or warm grey MAPEI
Comments (13)White grout should be illegal!! I have struggled with it in both a kitchen and now in the master bath (I didn't pick the grout the second time. It was there when we moved in). Those are both applications where you will live to rue white grout and find it increasingly more aggravating with each passing day! It is so much work to keep it clean (and the longer you are there, the harder that difficult job becomes!), I am looking at having my master bath regrouted. The darker the grout, the more forgiving in terms of showing grime, mildew, etc. Those all white bathrooms look beautiful on the day of installation but the honeymoon doesn't last long!...See Morehow to "warm up" a white kitchen
Comments (32)Thank you so much for all the tips! I especially love the idea of antique brass lighting. I am definitely going to incorporate that . I found a new inspiration picture from the Rejuvenation catalog which I will try to mimic . It has black and antique brass lighting and black shelving with antique brass brackets . White subway tile with dark grout and black hardware. I will add wood type blinds of some kind and I love large end grain cutting boards. Also, the gold ceiling color is interesting! Allison0704: I did post a layout earlier. Some changes have been made since though. I am doing my half bath in black and brass, but it is only partly done . I gel stained my bathroom cabinet black, put a marble top on it and used antique brass hardware. I thought about doing some black cabinets in the kitchen but chickened out as I thought all white would be better for resale ( not that I plan on moving anytime soon. ) This is my inspiration picture for my kitchen from Rejuvenation that I found yesterday: My question is now: should I try to return my polished nickle faucet or will it blend ok? Thanks to everyone - you are all so talented!!...See Morebeachem
