Fabio - In the North Hills I'd suggest you call Best Feeds or Bakerstown Feed and Grain. I actually think you're unlikely to find either tree locally. You might ask for a suggestion of a nursery recommendation from the above if they don't have them.

Thanks John, I called them and it seems I would not be able to find it. Do you guys recommend any fruit tree for this area ? Particularly something that is easy care, not too big. Not very fond of apples/pears though.

Peaches. The birds'll eat all the sweet cherries. But maybe pie cherry: Montmorency. What about Elderberry. For jam or wine.

You can order the pawpaws ($3.34 @ 5), persimmons ($2.70 @ 5), and elderberries ($2.37 @ 5) cheap as bare root trees from musserforests.com. They are in Indiana county to the north east of Pittsburgh. I never went up there, although I think I'd enjoy it. Prices are each when you buy the quantity specified. I remember in the past if you buy 25 elderberries ($0.97 @ 25) you get 25 for about the price you'll pay from a nursery for one potted shrub. You have to watch their prices as sometimes you could buy 25 cheaper than buying 5. They mostly grow evergreen seedlings including to Christmas tree farms.

If I were planting what you're looking for I would order bare root trees in the spring for planting in this area. Most sites are sold out by about the time most people start thinking about planting anything. I graft so buy rootstocks and scions, mostly apple. You need to order those shortly after the holidays or they start running out. I've also ordered bare root trees, from Stark Bros. they are also usually sold out of much of their inventory by the time the big box stores start getting the early garden items. My opinion is you'll get a nicer tree growing from bare root as you can spread the root out instead of planting a pot bound root spinning round and round in that pot.

I would also do some research for pawpaw and persimmon varieties. There are a lot of them and I don't know much more. I do know that there's a pawpaw that was native to PA. Mussers says you need more than one tree for pollination and perhaps 2 different varieties will solve that issue and give you some variety. Start out by searching on Houzz which isn't easy to do. What I do is click on a thread category on the left side of the web page before typing into the search box. Then it'll ask if you want to search in that box or on the whole site. If you click whole site you get all kinds of useless stuff.

you dont mention size you are after ...

for larger specimens ... this is the time of year.. to go to your favorite nursery.. and have them order in the plants you want.. on their winter order ... for delivery in spring ...

in smaller sizes.. everything is available mail order .... but many wont ship in august ... ive ordered from musser.. and i got exactly what i expected ... small relatively cheap stock ....
