Roof: I would stick with the GRAY roof rather than changing to brown. Gray is much more versatile. Brick: I like your brick as is. Don't paint it. Front Door: Don't replace with a 'Craftsman' door. Your house isn't Craftsman. You can get an appropriate wood door that isn't Craftsman. Garage door: Paint to blend with the brick color or one shade darker than the brick. Best to not accent the garage door. You can remove the plastic inserts in the top garage panel so that the windows are square rather than that sunburst pattern and that will be a very nice update for your home. Shutters: Remove them. Your beautiful windows aren't designed for shutters and they clash with your exterior. Porch posts: Don't accent your posts - they aren't a feature. Have the color blend into the house so use the brick color. You have a great home! It just has a mashup of a couple of different styles now. When you finish your improvements, I would love to see how it turns out. Have fun!

Katie, if you really don't care for the brick, then the Romabio would be a great option for you. Did you know that the lime wash (the Classico) is removable in the first 72 hours? You could try it out on one side just to see if you like it. If not, hose it off! The Masonry Flat is permanent. acts more like a paint but it's the mineral base so it allows the brick to breathe. Before and after w/the Romabio. looks great Even if you plan on 'covering' most of the brick, (which really isn't that great of an idea) the warm tones are still going to show. I just think doing any type of blue siding on top of it won't look right. If you 'paint' the brick the same white as the windows, and then do the blue siding, you'll have a completely different looking home! I'd sample the romabio on the back or side and try out some sample paints above it, just to see if you like it. If your plan is to remove the brick anyway, I don't see what you have to lose. You could paint your brick the anonymous color, Urbane bronze on the siding, you could do a nice blue door Or, do the Riverway on the siding, paint the brick a soft white, and urbane bronze on the trim. White Heron brick, and any of these blues on the siding. darker blue on the door I love these blues. They will all work w/the brown roof too. (when it's time for a roof redo, choose a medium charcoal gray)

Thank you all for your input! Such great advice. I was ‘on the fence’ about painting the brick but now we will NOT paint it! I know what you mean about gray Jan and bright white Jinx. I’m relieved not to be spending 2 weeks painting :-). I agree about the problem gable and will start saving our pennies to dramatically change the front but in the meantime I will work on some of chiflipper’s suggestions! I like the landscaping inspiration photo Patricia—thanks! I plan to add lots of plants to the front but hadn’t thought about a wall like that, interesting option. Thanks for all the inspiration photos and ideas Jinx—depending on cost maybe cedar shakes could be a solution. Norwood, we don’t need the space in the gable. We enjoy our front porch and we want a greenhouse one day so maybe enclosing the front could create a plant space / generous foyer! Thanks again

Trim the bushes, replace the railings, plant some grass, clean up the clutter and repost. Make a walkway from the front door to the sidewalk. My take is it's probably a cute house, but it looks sorry right now. My guess if you do those things, you won't need to paint. Paint might be an improvement, but the landscaping will probably take it from sorry to cute and that will be enough to attract renters.
