Yes you can. I did this as well and it looked fantastic. Unfortunately, my armandii was in a pot, a half wind barrel, and after 5 years it outgrew the barrel and I had to get rid of it since I did not have a place to plant in the ground.. You have probably already noticed the shoots break fairly easily but this clematis is such a vigorous grower it doesn't seem to be much of a problem. I did not prune mine I just let it go... the deer did some pruning for me. Wonderful vine... I miss it.

Thank you Marta...you mean all white with no black rails or posts? I am trying to stay clear of all white because with all boys in the house it sends my ocd in to overdrive just thinking about it lol.

The entire upper stair - the angled step, the narrow landing, the complicated railing - is dangerous. Anyone could easily lose their footing or grasp of the rail, especially a child, an old person or a guest. As others have pointed out, the stairs are existing and so are grandfathered in, and changing them would involve codes and be expensive. If it were me, I'd be as careful as possible, warn visitors and friends, and start saving for a new stairway.
