New to adeniums, but so far my seedlings are looking well!
Comments (10)Thanks NeonCactus I got a desk lamp & grow light strip from Walmart. I set it up in my small closet that has a bench and put all seedlings/rehab/over winter plants in there. It gets warm in the closet during the day from all the lights and at 5pm I pull the plug from the wall and keep the door open so air circulate. Lights are 6am-5pm because I leave for work at 6:20 and get home at 5. So u have one curly bulb (warm spectrum) and LED which is (cool spectrum) and the light strip which the color is purple so it's the broad spectrum light. And it is cheap so here's pic lol my mom gave me the idea since all my plants Weren't used to the dry air in our new home here and kept dying. Leaf drop, shriveled branches, yellowing, it was bad and plants aren't cheap, so I thank mom for this idea...See MoreHydroponic seedlings
Comments (4)RoboGeek Why would suspect the water supply? Unless you were suspecting pathogens, but that's why mentioned "assuming there isn't any disease." pH has never been a problem with my seedlings. Given I use RO water, but still the pH fluctuate anyway. Also what good would an EC meter do? It wont be able to detect pathogens, or tell if there's an excess of any particular mineral in the water supply. I have never used anything other than RO/tap water to sprout seeds, and with the exception of spinach, I get a very high success rate....See MoreRe-potting Adenium 1.5 inch seedlings
Comments (4)Paulie, they can stay in the same pot for another year or more. Type of pot is personal preference. Plastic will stay moist longer the clay or cement pot. I will not grow them in clear plastic. In my opinion, roots should stay in a dark environment. Any mixes will be fine as long as they drain well. Seedlings can tolerate a little more water than older plants. They don't like to be completely dry out between water. Since the temperature in US Florida is around 85-95 give or take, I water my seedlings daily. Unless you plan to roots training. You don't have to cut them. If you don't want the roots to tangle together. I suggest you to place a small object under the root ball. Small round plastic circle, small rounded rock, or a small piece of styrofoam work well. we rise the plant higher to expose their caudex or fat roots below. Since, seedlings don't have either, you dont have to rise them as this time. Don't bury them any deeper either. Hopefully someone have more experience can give you other inputs....See MoreSo.... i got an adenium obesum seedling.... now what?
Comments (1)You can expose the Adenium seedlings as soon as they germinate. Plumeria seeds will take longer than Adenium, closer to 2 weeks or a little longer. Plumeria seeds will germinate from the tip, so are recommended to be sown with the paper "tail" up. (They may still germinate if laid sideways of course, that's just how most do it)...See MoreMC
