Adenium seedlings are so hungry and grow so slow...
Comments (5)Hey guys I am pretty new here too. I have not had any of the problems you guys are talking about. But the size of mine seems to be all over the board. I am looking forward seeing what your seedlings look like at 2 1/2 months. Mine are approaching the 5 or 6 week mark. I know I planted very early April. I will post a new picture tomorrow of mine as well, I'd like to compare as well. One thing that I want to note and hopefully get some comment back on is this. I had one get pulled up/knocked down by my son "petting" them. It was just laying on top of the soil so I made a hole with a toothpick and dropped it in and watered it. This little guy has taken off! It's not tall as some but the leaf growth and the trunk thickness is as good or better than all the rest in my opinion. It's too early to say but I am wondering if at some point dropping these guys down doesn't promote more girth? I think that in another 2 or 3 weeks I will be ready to transplant and I intend to experiment a little with them by dropping some down and seeing what happens. What do you guys think? Comments (46)Boy time really got away with me. I'm been so busy with work and I just interviewed for a Masters Program at UT Southwest Medical here in Dallas, whew I'm exhausted! :) Here are the rest of my Brugs! :) I took these after work one day so they are a little darker than normal. Good idea, Eloise, about the markers. I had no idea that wasn't toxic to the plants. Thanks pkponder! Coleus was really easy to start from seed. I started a thread in the Container Garden forum, if you wanna check out the coleus progress! :) It'd be interesting to try different types of ferts but right now I'll stick with what I have on hand. I don't have access to any other fert than store bought ones... Yaslan, this is my first time growing from seed. I got a Wizard mix, which is a bunch of different types of coleus and I used pretty much the whole package and got lots of seedlings! Comments (9)Most of us grow our adeniums in regular plastic pots and a saucer, no close fitting outer pots. They do just fine in these during the early years, they let the underground portions to put on some good growth before raising them up to show the caudex off better later on. Then at this point, they often get moved from the full height pots into half pots which balances their look more especially for the Ines which have a wider caudex. Terracotta pots are a good choice too, but need a bit more experience regarding their watering needs.....but we don't know what knowledge you have with plants in general. Agree with Rick about self watering ones not being a particularly good choice. I personally have never used them for any plant, that's not to say they don't work in some instances though. Your plants may come with roots that won't fit into a size you have bought, far better to see what you have got first, then buy accordingly. Another day of do waiting for a suitable home won't hurt I'm sure and if you go with Amazon for any pot, delivery time is often minimal. Gill...See MoreWhat do you think of my changes so far? Comments (10)Thank you, all! I have no style when it comes to decorating, so your comments make me feel better about the room. My next task is to tackle window treatments (ugh, that's gonna be a hard one), pillows and lamps etc. Great idea using books to raise the plant, gail618. I've received such great advice on here. Any other suggestions would be great....See Morekodom087 z9a
