My experience is very different. 13 years ago, I put in two full ranges (4 burners on each one) in two different parts of my kitchen. Space was not a problem, and we entertained frequently with multiple cooks in the kitchen. I also have two dishwashers, so was able to make two work triangles. It has worked very well, although I can see your point about trying to cook while baking and the heat generated. The main point I wanted to make was that at the time, I bought an expensive ($1600) Kitchen Aid convection range. It has been nothing but a nightmare. I often cannot broil and cook on the cooktop at the same time--it shorts out the entire range. This happened within the first 6 months of owning it, and the repairman said that the model was really just for show and the circuitry wasn't sufficient to handle heavy cooking! Since then, the electronic control pads don't register, so if I want the oven to be at 350, I have to press in 349 because the 5 and the 0 don't work! The convection never worked properly. Horrible waste of money. I can't wait to get something else, and I'll never get another Kitchen Aid.

We've been searching and searching for a 30" double wall oven. Looking online but not feeling comfortable buying a used oven on Craigslist or through ebay. Can you recommend something reliable and not prone to repairs? Something affordable and not over-the-top - Viking, Wolf and DCS are too much. Convection is preferred in both but I won't lose sleep if it's only in the top oven. We like glide out racks or the option to put glide outs in. We also like knobs and not touch pads but at this point I really just want recommendations on ovens that heat well and cook evenly. Anyone? Anyone? I've looked at everything under the sun (online) and it's hard to make such a big decision based on a single review written in 2008 for a particular oven - in this case the GE Monogram with knobs. We have Thermador 27" double convection ovens. I would have preferred 30" ovens, but we didn't have enough room. I love the ovens. The controls are easy to understand and use, it bakes well, and I like the glide-out rack. Thermador posted the wrong specs on their web site, so we had a little installation issue. That was fixed by the installer.

I don't know where you are, but I know that the Pacific Sales that are located in Best Buy are closing out floor modes. I almost bought at Bosch 500 series double wall oven for 1599. at the Best Buy in Towson. The Lowe's in the area are also closing out last years models as are the ADU. Just ask. Good luck. Gayle
