Take a look at white Corian or LG HiMacs (both are solid surface, just different brands). Nothing will stain them. I have HiMacs counters and love them. There will be other posters that poo-poo Corian for being plastic, but I wanted solid white when i replaced my laminate and didnt care for the aggregate look of plain white quartz. HiMacs was less than half the price i had quoted for quartz

Excellent advice ^. Tumeric has never, ever, stained Corian.

@Joseph Corlett, then why are there so many articles about how to get turmeric stains out of Corian?

Soft scrub with bleach will take anything out of glacier white Corian. Marker, turmeric, red wine, tomato, black smudges from my blender's rubber feet - all gone.

Yes, get samples of anything you're interested in and do tests. That sealed the deal for me, plus then you don't have to hold your breath/cross your fingers when you buy your countertop.

Engineered quartz surfaces are stain resistant, but not stain proof. Food coloring, tumeric, and permanent marker were the most likely substances to leave lasting stains, even after a thorough cleaning and wiping of the surface. Get Corian, or get a darker counter that is truly bulletproof.- soapstone for example...........

PS...... I have had Corian for 20 years. : ) No issues in WHITE. Nothing is easier.

To me, a ’stain’ is something you cant get out at all. With solid surface, there will be things that you have to spend a few minutes scrubbing if they are left sitting too long. Ive had this with vanilla and red wine when they sat overnight. But 2-3 minutes of swirling Soft Scrub on it made it look as good as new.

There is a lot of quartz bashing here but love ours and nothing we’ve done has ever stained it. We have Pental Lattice and I just wet it put tumeric on it, smeared it around and let it sit a couple of minutes and it wiped right up with no staining.

Not all quartz is equal. Not all quartz will stain. Could it stain? Yes. .............or no. Test an actual sample of whatever you select . My gawd. lol

IMO polished granite is as close as you can get for bullet proof and why choose plastic when there are so many beautiful natural stones that all the plastic tries to look like..

Two other benefits of Corian: It can be refinished (by a pro) and it is "soft." One of the main reasons we chose it is that we have a kid with a motor delay, and he has yet to break a dish by dropping or slamming it on the counter. (hasn't chipped the counter either, now that I think of it) .That is a HUGE advantage to any kind of stone in our house. YMMV.

For what it's worth, not only is soapstone black, so nothing would really show, but it is literally impervious to chemicals, stains and heat. It's virtually indestructible, other than physical damage - and most of that is repairable.

Agree. We had Glacier White Corian in a previous home for years. I used Soft Scrub with bleach on it all the time, and it still looked new years later when we sold the house. Not one single stain.

Thank you all for your comments a few months ago. I decided to go with Glacier White Corian and had it installed a few weeks ago. It's fantastic! I love the look and feel of it, and it's as easy to care for as everyone here said.
