I posted about this on another thread. I did grow Jasminum polyanthum indoors for years without any trouble. I bought it at a plant sale for a local church, and I was only beginning with indoor plants. It was quite small, not on any support, and I used to pruner it back when it got a bit floppy or untidy. It grew a stout trunk and was almost always in flower. I think I lost it in a hard winter when I had brought it outdoors for a holiday in August and forgot to bring it in again, being very busy with lots of babies at the time. I lost another I got last year similarly, but am going to try again. I think it makes a wonderful, easy house plant when treated as I used to treat it. I prefer the scent to Gardenia, it's much lighter and more liveable with, in my opinion, and not fussy as to soil or temperatures.

Yes, it is a variegated Solanum. Compare with Solanum rantonetti 'Variegata'. Great windfall - would cost you 13 -15 quid to buy. Not hardy for us here in the UK but if you have a conservatory, porch, greenhouse or even a cool windowsill you can bring it in for the winter. Looks like H. rosa-sinensis, as several have stated. I don't see your location, but if you are in a cold-winter locale, you can probably maintain it indoors over winter. Give it as much sun as possible. Keep it evenly moist...never sitting in water, never bone dry. It will lose most leaves up to the tips due to lack of humidity, and watch for mites, too. Since it's a woody perennial, it will hang in there until spring, but look pretty bare. Once spring weather is settled and regularly above 50, it can go out on a deck or porch, gradually getting it used to full sun. Fertilize it regularly and keep it watered and grow it hard and fast to get buds and blooms before cold weather sets in again. I'm in Indiana and repeat that cycle annually for about ten big pots. Boy, do the leaves drop when they come inside! It is not a houseplant and will struggle if it's inside all year, though you may get a few blooms. Good luck with your plant.
