Need help in identifying plants

We are working on backyard remodel and like a few designs that I found online. Can you please help in identifying a few plants

1) Round busy plant & yellow grassy shrubs in the first pic

2) Tall green plants on raised bed in the second pic

When playing this exercise, it is best to start with the form of the plant you are seeking, add it to the climate you live in, and select a plant that has that form and will grow where you live in the site conditions you have.

The actual plants in the online picture don't really matter, but picture #1 boxwood and yucca or agave. Picture #2 a sheared juniper..

peruse a few of the posts in the name that plant forum.. and see the type of pix you need for good IDs ...

these pix are near useless for ID purposes.. though chris gives it a yeomans try ... there is a west coast conifer.. that looks like the juniper suggested.. but the name is escaping this MI boy ....

if you take a walk around the area.. and snap your own GOOD pix .... and post them to the name that plant forum.. including location.. big city name.. those peeps can ID anything .. with the benefit you know they will grow where you are.. include local parks .. arborteums.. and nurseries ...which of course.. should have labeled plants ...

psw: btw... that second pic looks heavily photoshopped ... something about the balls under the trees in dead center ... which makes me question the whole thing ...

Not only does it resemble a Lysimachia (see other post) in structure but it appears to have the variegation of L. punctata 'Alexander'.

Jeanne, Beautiful area you are in....as you know, gardening at 2000 ft. in NC is different than gardening in the piedmont. although the hardiness is changing in the mountains, you have different native plants, different soil, more rain (as you mentioned). If you go to the "suggestions" page you will see my post there. reply if you think it is a good idea and maybe others will think it is important also...more people in your region to help you identify your plants! There are many helpful guides for you to consider, one in particular that I have found useful is "Wildflowers of the Southern Mountains" by Richard Smith.

Thanks. I googled kalanchoe beharensis and the images shown look identical to the plant we have so it must be that. Also found a listing on eBay for a kalanchoe beharensis and they referred to it as captain cook's hat. Not an Australian native (as we were told) after all.

probably came from a nearby bird feeder ... and that was why.. back in the day.. i moved my feeders to be over the cement driveway ... rather than all the seed falling in the garden ... ken

second image is definitely computer generated...shrubs that would look like that are various zone 8/9 Podocarpus, or Rhamnus 'Fine Line'.
