3' granite backsplash needed if plan to tile backsplash kitchen?
Comments (5)With a granite backsplash, you'll still have a seam so it defeats the purpose stated by that granite guy. Only time I see tile over a 3" granite backsplash is when they are done at different times (change in homeowners or you decide to add tile in the future). Most people getting new counters will just tile from the counter up....See MoreNeed help finding a non-white backsplash for a White kitchen
Comments (9)My first project with glass tile involved my removing two columns of mortared mosaic glass squares because I didn't like the angle of my tile cuts. In the process of pulling it down I cut myself (no big surprise). What was a bit of a surprise was the surgery I needed two months later to remove a shard of glass lodged on the tendon of the middle finger of my right hand. It could have severed that tendon at any time, which would, of course, have been disastrous. He needs a wet saw, a diamond blade for it, personal protective equipment (I wore goggles, boots, gloves, but my gloves weren't leather) and health insurance! Regarding the tile, seeing all the samples together, Tusk has the right undertones, and would be my choice. You can choose anything you like, of course, but I don't think Gardenia is the right one. I am partial to the glazed thin brick and show it below in Alcatraz and Glacier. I totally get it if you feel you already have enough brick! But this may be a better color family for you....See MoreRecommendation for fireplace surround and kitchen back splash
Comments (10)Lovely kitchen. It's a very pleasant and mild design (very good thing - you won't get tired of it and there's nothing about it that will be "dated" in six months). It also leaves you lots of options for neat tiling/backsplash/fireplace surround. One aspect of design history you could tap into for indirect inspiration is Victorian fireplaces. Many fireplaces from this era had really exquisite tile surrounds: The surrounds and hearths came in all sorts of designs and colors (we have four fireplaces in our Victorian house and they all have different tile). The reason I say indirect inspiration is because you'd want a contemporary/more modern take on this to match your interior - clean lines, modern tile designs, etc. Having a surround of interesting decorative tile on the fireplace surround and tying the rooms together by using them as accents in the backsplash would be very nice, I think....See MoreBacksplash Recommendations for Loud Granite in White Kitchen
Comments (6)If you do white for the backsplash, that's not very dramatic. Perhaps you meant you like the drama of the counter tops and want them to stand out? If you want the counter tops to stand out, then you go subtle on the backsplash. If you want the backsplash to stand out, your counter top should be more subtle. I think I would like a blue/gray glass tile for your backsplash, stacked (but not behind the stove - perhaps a matte stainless there)....See Moreherbflavor
