Finished Kitchen! Urban Cottage with gray cabinets/wood counters
Comments (71)Carrie_eileen!! I don't know how I missed this (well... I had a baby in Feb so that was probably it! :) ) but I just stumbled on your kitchen thread and I just wanted to tell you how beautiful it looks!! It's amazing how effortless the details feel - and the countertops are amazing!! I'm so happy for you and although I'm sure the schedule made it crazy, how great that you were able to get all of this done so quickly... I hope to someday *soon* post pics of our finished kitchen... still too many loose ends to tie up to do that yet :) Enjoy your amazing kitchen and congrats!...See Morecolor advice: Turkish tile, blue cabinets, counters?
Comments (37)Thanks again for the additional comments and suggestions! We already have the oven - it's a GE single/double model that my DH fell in love with and grabbed on major floor model sale. To be honest, it would not have been my first choice aesthetically, but he's the primary cook M-F and this was a big thing for him. So whatever we do, that oven has to work. mtnrdredux, I'm surprised at how much I like the turquoise - definitely going to get samples in that range and try them out! sophie123, your kitchen sounds beautiful! Dunsmore cream is a lovely shade, I can see that going well with the marine blue. Thanks for the heads-up about the paint. It's funny, I noticed that the marine blue was a little different to work with just when I was painting cardboard samples. I guess I'd call it a little streakier. I'll almost certainly be painting the cabinets myself, and although I have a great deal of experience refinishing and painting furniture, I don't want to make things more difficult for myself than they need to be....See MoreMatte Black Granite Perimeter Counter with Shiny White Quartz Island
Comments (16)we have leathered (honed?) absolute black perimeters and in each of the three bathrooms the island is butcher block and we love it no fingerprints, stuff (crumbs, flour etc) does show but clean up is easy and looks great i've had a very high end granite with lots of movement and i don't clean up any more now than i did then and i disliked it a lot......i wouldn't choose a "shiny" finish for the island but i'm not going to say it wouldn't be attractive... bil has absolute black (shiny) and it is difficult to keep looking nice......See MoreNew countertop and backsplash for older kitchen
Comments (10)did you get a quote on painting? prob would be in the 4-5K range for everything (they remove doors/drawers and should take it back to their shop for spraying). with what you want, painting them white or a soft gray will look way better. you also need to replace your bulbs to something less yellow. look for bulbs in the 4000K range. and hopefully you're eliminating that ceiling fan? I'm painting mine next month. he offered to replace all of my doors/drawers with shaker style for 2500 (which is a good price), but mine are shaker w/a little extra routing around the edging so I'm keeping them. Cambria is the most expensive quartz, so keep that in mind. Do NOT get the 4" piece up the back. If you're really on a budget, look into pre fabricated quartz or granite. way cheaper and you have the ideal layout for pre-fabs. they come in 8 or 9' lengths, and islands in 6x4. average price is 400-500 per 9' countertop. (a fabricator is extra to fit it and cut the holes for you sink and such) pre fab quartz^ and quartzite: Taj Majal Quartzite slab both of these are Berwyn. Aria Bellingham...See Moredianemck
