I really like your dark cabinets. If they are in good shape, I would leave them. For me, a medium ton floor with just a little warmth and low sheen finish is the easiest to live with. My wood floors are red oak with rubio monocoat dark oak. We like how they look with a dark cabinet (red oak stained dark walnut).

Yeah, I actually think your floors are too light, so I might go a few shades darker. No idea how to handle the border -- have never seen anybody do such a thing! If I could find wood that matched the floor, I'd have it replaced. But honestly, you're going to need some expert advice -- the current floor looks pickled, which might affect how it takes stain (and whether it can realistically be matched)...

I wouldn't touch the floor as it has a great modern look. The red tone of the kitchen and the windows trim really looks dated. In addition, the reddish kitchen and the yellowish floor do not have consistent overal look of the space, that's probably why you feel concerned, but blame the wrong guy (floor). If you'd shoose to change the floor colour, then you need to change it for red/pink tint so that it fits cabinet doors. In addition, the floor and doors have somehow match the colour of the countertop. (The photo does not show what color it is, and this is no less important). So I would choose to change the color of the kitchen. If the cabinet doors are made of good wood, there are three ways to change their color. 1. Order new cabinet doors of the desired colour. 2. Paint them (no wood look any more). 3. Remove the old stein to the original color and put the desired stein (or leave them as is) to fit the floor and countertop, then you preserve the wooden look and their low maintanance future. All three ways have pros and cons. And I didn't quite get the border issue, cos I can't see what stuff is it made from? Thank you.
