Quote 4/12/10--Again
Comments (3)Yes, I'm sensitive to tree pollen. I check the pollen count every day. One day I saw that a city close to us had a "pollen alert". It so happened that we had to go to that city that day and I noticed that the city was full of offending trees listed on the website. Ok, I know, how can a tree be offending? It can't. I simply will not go to that city unless I have to....See MoreHGTV again. (I need a life.)
Comments (3)Mmm, this brings back a memory! We "had" a wine rack similar to the one you are talking about in our first island. I found my toddler sitting on the floor in a puddle of wine one afternoon. Thankfully he wasnt hurt from breaking the bottles on the tile floor. The funny part was that he had a Dr.'s appt and I didnt have time to bathe him so I had use diaper wipes. I was worried the whole time he smelled like a winery! Needless to say, that part of the island was taken out and replaced with a shelf and cabinet door (with a child proof lock)....See MoreMantle decorating....again......
Comments (12)Jaybird... In my previous home I had a similar set up... 10' ceilings in family room / 8' in kitchen with step down to FR. I placed a 42" round mirror over the mantle. (It was actually 2 half rounds and I hung one upside down beneath the other.) They had a decorative grid over the mirror for interest. I then purchased a 42" round coffee table for in front of the sectional, which "mirrored" (LOL) the mirror and added cohesiveness. Although I couldn't see into the mirror from the family room, I COULD from the kitchen because of the step down. I personally LOVE mirrors and use them for their light reflective quality more than their people-reflecting quality. I don't think you need to always see into them. This photo shows HALF of the aforementioned mirror and also the coffee table. Alas, I have shorter ceilings here and could not repeat the effect. I miss it a lot. Good luck!...See MoreDecorating and Mid- life crisis
Comments (30)Firstly, I really didnt mean to come off insenstive or anything of the sort. So I am truly sorry if I offended anyone. Secondly, I cant thank you enough for your responses. Oceanna - what you said really got to me. I really appreciate you taking the time to write that. So many of you definitely made a shift in my thinking. I am semi - new to home decorating and interior designing and I am kind of riding different waves to learn as much as I can from every angle so that blog was one path I took. I hope to write a retraction to the article within the next couple of days. From what I have gathered it seems that I am one of the youngest members on the forum which in this case was a little bit intimidating due to the harshness of some of the responses but on the other hand I am learning much more than I accepted I could from a forum. With the new year coming up I really am sorry if this offended or hurt anyone. It really wasn't my intention. I would like to take skypathys opinion and ask why people are here. And how long have forums been a help to people in need of decorating advice. Its incredible to see how much help the internet can be, especially these forums. Its amazing! Thank you for all your responses - I cant even express how nice it was to get them - even though some hurt a bit, but I guess I deserved it reading over the blog. Happy New Year...See Moreeld6161
