I really like the piece and the red chairs! Is it possible to shift the furniture a bit (not caring for the red chair in relation to the red cabinet)? Can the sofa face the towards the entrance, and the two chairs face the sofa? That will minimize the "I'm red!!" and provide a view for all seated guests.

I actually like it alot.. The artwork sitting on it does not go with it.. I would try to minimize what you put on top - maybe do a beautiful large plant and a nice tray with different height candles. Then do some nice black and white photos on the wall.

I would also add some curtains - even just panels.

Don't feel the need to bring that red color all around the room . Just a simple accent piece or trim on a pillow would do it...

I love your red sideboard and the red chairs.. That said, I do not like all the art work you have in the room....the art in the corner, the art over the sideboard, the art between the living room and the dining room plus the art work you have over the black piece behind the red chair (is it s fireplace or book shelf?) Pick your favorite art and put one or two or three on the wall. Get throw pillows and a throw to match your red and grey. Then I would put the two red chairs together, facing the red sideboard unless it interferes with entering the room. A tallish plant in the corner and a smaller one on your coffee table and it will look great,

Red sideboard and red chairs are setting the style. Try picking up all the artwork and all the decor smaller than a basketball, put it in another room for a week. I think you'll find that art with a lot more color would look great.

I, too think it's great. And the red might be bold but you should embrace it. The right art over it would help. You have too many of the abstracts. They can't be appreciated when they are spread every where. To get it away from the red & orange chairs you could put it where the mirror & white bench are now. Those 2 pieces are too "country/farmhouse" for the rest of the room. And the red piece is a good size on that wall. Proportionally it works there.

Artwork does not need to "go" with the furniture; in fact, it's infinitely more interesting when it does not. I love your red sideboard, and really like the artwork as you currently have it configured. I think you are demonstrating a keen eye for attractive arrangement; go with your gut.

Would remove everything from around the red sideboard and add a pair of tall pieces -- curio cabinets or shelving units -- one on each side of it and use them to display things that matter to you and your family. Keep them a more neutral color/finish -- the same white as your window/door trim -- so the sideboard is the focal point of the wall.

Don't add anything to the wall above the sideboard right away. Make deciding the one large art object -- doesn't need to be a framed picture -- that you hang above the sideboard a family project ... and take your time finding something you all agree upon.

What are your family's hobbies/interests? Music? Golf? Sports? Mountains? Garden/farming? Don't choose impersonal art. Choose something that when you look at it, it evokes a pleasant memory and prompts a smile.

I really like the red sideboard and the red chairs. I would just hang the artwork above it so it has room to breathe. Because it is sitting on the piece, it is adding to the weight.

The red sideboard may be the best part of the room. Also, it needs a strong piece of art above it not a weak piece of art. Just don't do this room in Red, White, and Blue. The traditional blue chests just don't work in the room.

Paint the walls brown.

it will work with the red and art.

Rethink some of the other pieces in the room..remove the blue mirror, the piece under it and the gray piece on the other wall.

Fill the walls with your art. If you have an empty area, do plants.

Art should not play second fiddle to furniture. Art needs to make a strong statement here. If the five peach art pieces were collected and displayed together as a series in a room where they make the statement, they'd be fine.

I'm not a fan of red. BUT, that sideboard may have changed my mind. The chairs are pretty and between those and the sideboard, you are building a style that is truly yours and your hubby's. I don't think the artwork fits the room, but I'm not a professional decorator. I would like to suggest for you go to an art website and look at all of the gorgeous black and white photos/paintings. It's the couch that doesn't 'GO'. It needs some red pillows along with the throw. Patterns that coordinate with the art work.

I don’t usually like red, but I LOVE that sideboard (so cool that your husband built it, and painted it that color!), and I like the red chairs with it. I think stronger art would be great in that bold room; I’d look at galleries in your area, and museums and art fairs for the real thing- some pieces that are as bold as the sideboard. That red color makes me think of some of Gerhard Richter’s abstract paintings- I think he often uses that color in his abstract “squeegee” paintings. You might look at his work for inspiration. He’s amazing. (I’d link a few examples here, but I can’t make that happen, sorry.)
I agree that the peach art pieces are not strong enough in that spot; the peach color just doesn’t work there. They may work better elsewhere in your home.
Also, I like the couch, and the whole vibe of your room! Refreshing.

I htink the red sideboard makes that room! everything else is sedate, so that bold color adds a bit of interest.

However, your artwork is the wrong color for that red. I don't like those peach tones, or the greens in it. Plus, I just don't think it does justice to the console.

I wouldn't do red pillows. too much red is too much. you have the chairs and the huge sideboard. the only other red that needs to be here is in art, or a few decor items. I like your white rug/sofa, but I think the dark coffee table should be replaced w/something lighter

I'm not saying you need this color, (too many blues/greens) but you see how bold it is? Everything else in my room is neutral, like yours.

Make the artwork part of the piece.

for the other wall, pick something in similar colors, or subject matter. as long as they coordinate, you could do whatever you want.

I'd remove the blue mirror. it's a bit too farmy looking w/the modern chairs.

Instead of the white country bench, I'd prob opt for a bench of some sort

Also the painting on the floor (like grey/blue with a black swirl/line in it) is not staying, it was just on the floor because I had taken it down from the dining room.

since you don't want more red, I'd prob do something liek this.

It compliments the red console and chairs perfectly, but doesn't overwhelm you white sofa or rug.

however, I think that dark coffee table is too heavy looking. I do something like this white or white marble top, light wood legs or metal legs (you'd do silver, all I had w/the gold picture)

and because most everything in that room is squared off on the edges, I'd do a round table to help soften up all the rectangles in there.

bring in a bit of this color to offset that red and to match the art.

in a pinch you could find something inexpensive like this walmart piece, and spray the legs a soft nickel.

I LOVE THE RED. and thats shocking because i actually almost always shy away from it! yes its big, but i feel like the size and colour are what make it such a focal pice.

i would suggest a large arched/interesing (aka not plain rectangle) mirror, with a few pieces of smaller bold art leaning against it. the mirror would allow the red in the room to be reflected without adding any additional red, and the bold art in front of if would add visual interest to the area.

Although your pictures only show the room in daylight,it dorsnt appear you have any lamps to light the room at night. i just see recessed lighting which is not the best for comfotably enjoying your room at night. love the chairs and the red sideboard; the room has personality.
