Painting knotty pine cabinets
Comments (1)Seattle Rain, could you please post a progress report? What did you do about the knots? Any pics? I'm hoping to paint my KP cabs in the fall and could use some advice. Thanks!...See MoreCream Cabinets with Knotty Pine Ceilings
Comments (7)I'd suggest you delay the decision as long as possible and check-out the door samples and take them home after the major surfaces are complete - lights, flooring, etc... For our kitchen, I originally fell in love with a warm cream mixed with light taupe moldings. In the actual room, chips and larger painted samples looked fine until the actual surfaces, new windows and lighting were installed. The warm cream turned flesh-toned and the light taupe picked up really unattractive darkness with green overtones. I am currently recycling the leftovers of that paint in my office where THE EXACT PAINT appears as pale cream with a little warmth. While its good to know I'm not crazy, even an experienced painter can't quite figure it out....See MorePainting dark knotty pine cabinets and paneled walls
Comments (5)All the decor and little knick knacks are going - these are pics I was able to snap in secret during our last visit. Anything grandma leaves behind is going in storage before we move in. The lighting will absolutely be replaced - the room will be much brighter, but I'm still dealing with dark orange/brown cabinets and walls. I'm not sure about the measurements because I was trying to be conspicuous and not look like I was thinking of taking a demo crew to the whole thing while grandma was around. But raising the cabinets is a challenge due to the fact that removing the extraneous high cabinets is a job that is a bit beyond me and I am trying to stick with DIY projects. Moving is going to cost us a lot, so I'm trying to keep home improvement projects as cheap as possible right now. And I'm doing any and all projects solo because my husband works out of town for months at a time. I can paint, I can't remove cabinets yet. I basically want to paint all the wood in the kitchen and dining room. There are some built ins opposite the kitchen - I figure I'll either paint or stain them depending on how the kitchen and dining room turn out. I love wood, I really do! I just hate knotty pine with a passion. If I can keep the wood grain but lighten things up, I'll be a happy homemaker....See Morehelp me bring some LIFE into this dark, dreary kitchen
Comments (13)place the sink on the right side of 64 in window.....if you consider half the width of window...then you have approx 32 inches on the right side ...... fine for a 33 in sink base and a 30 in sink. Then place fridge to left of the window. Then park a long farmhouse table over on the right wall instead of fridge along there. You dont want the table like that in the middle. You could find a round pedestal table [always better] for lower right once the fridge and cabinets are out of there. You can probably tuck a tall pantry cabinet in the corner behind that hinged door that leads out especially if you get a round pedestal table.....vertical storage can be any depth so you can go right up into that corner behind the door and it wont hit it. As far as the diagonal cabinet in the upper left corner of your space......people usually prefer to stick w a corner 90 degree cabinet......the storage inside those is pretty good with gizmos that swing out 90 degree corner utilization: people dont always center the sink under a window.....in the pic shown, they wanted to make room for the dishwasher .....in your case, getting the fridge over to that side on the left would be my preference. shift the sink to the right half of the window. then you can get more from a seating situation.....choose from various table shapes....See Morecat_ky
