ideas for (new) mudroom transition to kitchen flooring

We're finishing our breezeway thereby turning it into a finished mudroom. It's small (11x6 before we take away floor space for closets) and one step down from our existing kitchen (12'x 12'). This is in our 1940s Cape style house.

We want to put a tile floor in the mudroom, and this would be a good time to install flooring in the kitchen which is covered in a rather forgettable faux-stone vinyl (the rest of the house is nice hardwood, I don't know why the kitchen is like this).

So once you've entered the mudroom, there is a step up to your left, through a doorway, into the kitchen. Except for this doorway, there will be closets/walls so you can't otherwise see into the kitchen.

Question: Should we use 1 tile for both the kitchen& breezeway, 2 tiles of different shades, or two different but coordinating tiles for these rooms?

Thanks for any help!
