Price Quotes for: Inline vs. Marvin Infinity vs Marvin Integrity
Comments (10)Thanks, windowsonwashington. And to the novice, I've done some further digging and I now feel dumb about the amount I was about to pay for windows. I did not realize the mark-up until I priced the Ultimate and Integrity product without the installation (Do this first if you can before you invite anyone into your house. I did not). On average, I was being charged $1700 per window for window and install of the Marvins (Integrity, Infinity and Clad) and about $1,050 per Inline window installed. This seems a lot given that only a few were full frame replacement. Worse, only one of the six quote did a decent job explaining the installation process. A word of advise to folks window shopping, be discipline, methodical, analytical and do not treat the process as something to get done immediately (though I understand why you would feel this way). If you do, you likely will be taken advantage of. Do yourself a favor and give yourself the time to work through the process. Also, there's lot of misinformation out there about the superiority and inferiority of one product vis a vis another. Caveat emptor certainly applies for a purchase this costly. Another thing, read the warranty before you sign. By doing this, I was able to rule out the Infinity product, much as I liked the aesthetic of the casement. I'm sure there's more to come....See MoreMarvin essential vs. Andersen 100 series black windows
Comments (12)I definitely recommend the Marvin. Andersen is fine, but the Marvin is better. The GBG grills are more popular, but regardless I wish Marvin had the SDL option in the Essential series. They offer in both Elevate & Signature, so I have to believe it's coming eventually. I told my wife I wanted SDL for our house, she said "That's fine, but then you'll be cleaning them". We decided we didn't need grills. :)...See MoreMarvin Infinity Ultrex vs. OKNA 500 or 800
Comments (34)Painted vinyl when offered by a quality manufacturer is very reliable. The paint will be formulated to accommodate the flexibility needed for that material, as well as the reflective properties that will prevent issues. As long as the light reflective value is 55 or higher you are in good shape whether applied at the factory or in the field, but there are many other reasons that factory applied paint is better long term. The Kynar finish on Marvin is very good and one of the selling points, but the warranty is the same as most vinyl paints as todd alluded to. Slight advantage Marvin on that aspect, but it doesn't come close to compensating for the performance difference....See MoreInstaller vs Window Dilemma (Andersen 100 vs Marvin Essential)
Comments (13)I don't know if you have any "specialty" type windows, and if you do, Marvin can't do them in the infinity or essential or if they can, they are not operational windows and will be stationary. Only when you go up to the Ultimate window, the fiberglass and wood one, can they do arches. Then again, those are double hung, stationary or casement, not single hung. We have been working with Marvin since February, from a retailer that is Marvin only, and while it seemed easy at first, in getting the quote to them measuring and final quote, that is when it all has fallen down. Our first salesman just stopped responding after it was discovered he put non functioning infinity windows in a bedroom (the two windows have an eyebrow shape). Now we are working with the owner and it still isn't right. I am about to give up on Marvin and call Anderson....See MoreWindows on Washington Ltd
