A few more blooms…….

It seems I have a daily complaint about the weather this season, yesterday was no exception. overnight temp on Monday night was in the fifties. An example of what I saw Tuesday morning…..8 blooms on Stephanie Returns and none opened properly. First blooms on a few were not worth photographing for the same reason. Its only June and I am disappointed way to early in the season.. Here are a few that looked decent.

I have always liked the color on Yellow Monkey. I'm assuming it is a good performer as many people seem to like it too.............Wanda Lou Lovely looks - lovely. Seems to have opened just fine and the cool weather makes her color very saturated...........Maryl

Great color on Wanda Lou Lovely. Yellow Monkey looks good too. Mine always blooms well, but many years a little shorter than registered.

Thanks everyone! Well.. according to my records, I got OJ from Armstrong Nurseries in 2001. Must've been that one yr they offered mail order. I originally got an own-root one from Muriel Humenick in the 90s, back when I was active in the Butte Rose Society. We used to take treks down to Sac a lot to go to seminars and then go visit Michael Fischer at Michael's Premier Roses. I miss those days. We'd hang out with Muriel and Baldo Vellegas and all the other great people from the Sac Rose Societies. Anyway... Muriel had a lot of unusual roses she'd sell. I got one from her and obviously must've lost it. That's apparently why I then got one from Armstrong. OJ is not a rose in commerce anymore. It was barely in commerce back then. Very difficult to find. I guess that's another one I need to propagate or get some cuttings to one of the suppliers. It's a beautiful pure orange floribunda that grows about 3ftx2ft and has decent repeat. If anyone is near an Armstrong Nursery, you might go check and see if they still offer it. I kinda doubt it tho. But you never can tell. They had a lot of semi-exclusive varieties, many of which were Christensen ones. Unfortunately, those nurseries are not up this far north.

Just beautiful Clematis. I like seeing Jackmanii again. It's got a good reputation with cause. I wish we could grow Clematis better in our climate. Trouble is the foliage just looks ghastly most years by August. I've grown sweet Autumn Clematis, and the foliage held it's green very well, but it reseeds all over the place..................Your daylilies are nice too. I've got Little Jetsetter on my long list. I always like seeing it.............Maryl

Sherry: Your photo of Yellow Monkey is great. I know for awhile it was very sought after. How has it been for you? Is it a leaner? Scape height and buds? I know the diappointment of the weather swings. You hace a nice selection that did okay with opening. I know my season this year is not really a season but a look at how certain daylilies will do here and we haven't really gotten into the hottest part of the summer yet.

Yellow Monkey has done ok here, not the fastest multiplier but definitely not the worst. It is in a third season here. Scapes are not registered height but that is not unusual here. So far no leaning scapes

I know what you mean about the weather. I feel your pain. I've literally had thousands of blooms that wouldn't open correctly because of cool night temps this season. All four of the flowers you posted look great! Wanda Lou Lovely and Destined to See tie as my favorite.

The cool mornings are a pain, Sherry . I know we all agree that those cut way done on pretty blooms since they just don't open right. Your yellow Monkey is really nice. And, Wanda Sue Lovely is indeed lovely.
