How do you clean your carpeted stairs?
Comments (12)I have the same dog situation. I don't even want to stop them, they have so much fun running up and down the stairs to retrieve their toys. I also have that exact red Dirt Devil hand vac, but I never use it for stairs because it won't get NEAR the corners and edges. Not too great anywhere else either. The worst thing is I don't even have an outlet anywhere near the stairs. I actually tried sweeping them, yes, with a broom, and that worked OK. It's deep-pile carpet, so I had to sweep vigorously. This only makes them look clean, it doesn't suction any dirt out, but since the carpet is old and soon to be replaced, I don't care. It's a quick way to clean them up. Otherwise, I get an extension cord and use the attachment in my Miele canister, which is AWESOME. It gets deep into any crevice and grabs everything. It's the tool with little red felt lint-grabber strips....See MoreAre my stairs to steep?
Comments (8)Renovator 8-hopefully this helps. The fact that I live in the only state that still allows this height is exactly what raised a red flag. I see the architect was trying to get the height over the basement stairs which is what caused the steep incline and I'm thinking he just overlooked somehow as this was the first draft of finished set (oxymoron). I don't have more room to go forward but I have room to turn at bottom and poke into living room. Glad you noticed my post. I've learned to trust your opinion most of the time:)...See MoreLamp for entry table AND what to do with wall going up the stairs
Comments (50)I like that runner. AND I need a cabinet like that for shoes, too! So, to answer your question, yes, I think you are on the right track. A rug with blues, browns, and greens would tie everything together. Keep looking. You will find it-and don't settle for something you don't love. :). Oh, and don't reject out of hand polypropylene rugs there. They are soft, have great colors, and wear like iron. Easy clean, too which is great with boys and dogs (ask me how I know). We had one in our family room which was also our most-used entrance to the house and now our son has it in his home. Also, Rugs USA is having a 65% off sale for Columbus Day. Comments (12)This is were I have an edge (at least I think) :-)~ I'm still sleeping on a waterbed...I love this thing. I've slept on water for over 30 years. So on that note I wipe down the vinyl mattress with a special spray cleaner every two weeks. My mattress can't harbor mites as it's a solid impermeable vinyl material. If there were any mites, they would be wiped away from the spray cleanser and cloth, their numbers would be kept to a extremely low number. Now on to the washing... Keep in mind I'm a clean freak so I'm clean when going to bed. I wash sheets & pillow cases / mattress pad / duvet cover every two weeks. They are all solid white and get a hot wash with bleach. I have three sets of sheets currently. The comforter (always in the duvet cover) gets washed twice a year in hot with bleach (the start of autumn and start of spring) it's solid white, cotton shell with synthetic stuffing....See Moreanj_p
