Well, the first thing would be to get it tested. But I agree with bestreviews above, getting it off a wood (or wood byproduct) subfloor is going to be a royal pain in the best of circumstances and a real problem if it does contain asbestos.

I'm just guessing. The tiles are 9x9 in size which I believeis a pretty good indicator they are asbestos. I've been doing a lot of reading and for the most part, it's not a big concern if they are asbestos since they are most likely not friable. i removed the tiles slowly and carefully so there was little to no dust when i was pulling the tiles. Before I put leveling compound over everything, i want to know if there's an easy way of getting the remaining tiles removed without disturbing them too much. Thx

You're OK. The MINUTE amount of *possible asbestos is SOOOOOOO tiny that I'm not overly concerned. Asbestos usually takes repeated (10+ years) high-exposure (brake technician at Midas without a dust mask since 1983) before the horrible side effects (cancer) become an issue. Of course in a perfect world we would never be exposed...but we don't have a perfect world. The world you find yourself in is the best possible one. You have extremely minute exposure. Only the cracked edge of the tile would have given off any dust. The rest of the pieces are intact and safe. The edge breakage is so small that it is almost not worth mentioning. I would be more concerned with poor electrical in a home of that age then a small break in asbestos tiles like you have. Please relax. This isn't like measles or Hep C where one single exposure means you will catch the disease. Asbestos is an airborne irritant that requires HUGE/VAST amounts of exposure to come up with cancer 25 years from now.

Carpet is the WORST product for allergies, asthma, COPD, etc. There is nothing wrong with asbestos tiles. They are stable. They do not 'give off' asbestos. It is only when they are broken (pulverized) that things become a concern. it sounds like you have no intent to pulverize these tiles into beach sand, so you are more than welcome to leave them exposed.
