Just to be clear- our company is not a Marvin Dealer. We are a licensed building contractor that offers many kinds of construction services, from new construction, additions, remodeling, and small projects like window or door replacement. We or our customers purchase windows through a local dealer. We are in Colorado where it is very dry, but some of our customer use humidifiers and can get condensation on interior glass. This can affect woodwork that is not properly maintained. A high quality varnish or paint can easily last 20 years. Infinity dealers include installation in their price, operating with a business model similar to Andersen Renewal except that Marvin Infinity dealers are more independent than Renewal and often provide other services such as siding, roofing, and a wide range of other business services. Many general contractors prefer to keep the window installation in house so we shy away from dealers who perform installation. We have had some bad experiences with Andersen Renewal on some jobs-they kept mis-ordering windows and did not complete their installations on schedule. Our local Marvin Infinity Dealer/Installer has a great reputation and is sure to be much more organized than the Andersen Renewal outfit. Back to the question of Quality- Marvin Signature is the Top of the Line, with more options and bells and whistles available than any of the other lines. They come in wood, wood clad with aluminum, or the Modern line which is Ultrex Fiberglass with aluminum interior. They are a the best wood window made in the USA and the best fit for the historic renovation and restoration jobs that we do. Loewen Windows, made in Canada, are the only ones we have ever installed that are of similar quality. Marvin Elevate, formerly Integrity, is a Ultrex Fiberglass window with wood interiors. Elevate offers many options, awnings, casements, double hungs, sliders, trapezoids, etc. in a wide variety of colors and glass configurations including SDL. This is a very high quality window with a life expectancy as high as any window on the market today. Marvin Essential is and All-Ultrex window that has fewer options but are made to order and ship very quickly, They are a great window, very high quality and will out live and out-perform any Vinyl Window on the market Infinity Windows by Marvin are of as equally high quality as any other Marvin product, and have a great range of design options colors and glass configurations. Infinity dealers choose to work with Marvin, a company that stands behind their products, offers great dealer and customer support and great warranties. I am not a schill for Marvin, I do have extensive experience, having first installed Marvin Wood windows with true divided lites and storm panels in 1985- those windows are still working. We started installing Marvin Integrity for ourselves, our friends, and our customers I have been to the Marvin Factory in Warroad Minnesota for training and we have sent 2 of our carpenters there as well. I have seen how meticulous they are and witnessed windows undergoing arduous testing against wind and rain. I have also received great service whenever there was a problem with a unit we installed. We choose to use Marvin because we care about our customers, we care about our reputation, we care about our work.

Would like to hear follow-up from those chosing either Andersen Renewal, Andersen 400 or Marvin Integrity on their projects, esp'ly interested in how your windows have handled wind and cold, plus your impressions of their overall appearance. We need to replace Vetter windows damaged in a 50mph+ hail storm in Aug.'07. We will switch brands--they've resized. We need to replace windows on 3 sides of our '97 built modern home which has several very large picture windows, casements w/ transoms, and finished oak woodwork. The only prob. windows now are 2 windows placed over the whirlpool tub on north wall & west walls. Renewals' interiors have a dif. appearance but the pitch about being built to last over 50 years sounds good. Andersen 400s are going into the model homes of our builder w/ exc. customer response in past 10 yrs. A contractor is evaluating Andersen 400s for sizing and is "close" on most; he is pricing the architectural series for windows set in the stucco front. The Andersen exteriors are darker than our existing but we are thinking the vinyl "permashield" inside wrap would elim. any future mold on the rim touching the glass. Renewals only have a thin veneer and the rep. could not tell us if that could ever mold. Marvin windows look closer to what we have, inside & outside and did fantastic in wind studies done by Cons. Rpts. last month but with the wood interior, will I be sanding and restaining due to moisture along the bottom rim where we have exper'd some mold on existing windows? We constantly run an air-exchange system and seldom have windows open. We hope to have a product that can handle the extreme weather, handle future hail since it's now occurring regularly, along with straight line winds & blizzards. Thanks for any feedback!

David, I really wanted to come back here and say I got the windows I wanted, but we went with the Alside windows instead. We really just didn’t have a good feeling about the other companies & I knew that other people just paid half what they were wanting to charge us. I know it’s probably the busy season, so they can do that, but I can’t buy something from someone I don’t feel good about, no matter how good the product. The guys just started this week and will be back Monday to put in the replacement windows and finish everything up. So far, I’m really happy I went with my gut. The windows are not even good looking compared to the other windows we saw, but they are worth what I paid and I definitely did not feel like the Pella‘s or Andersen’s were worth what they quoted. The guys doing the work have done an excellent job on the construction portion so far and they are clean workers & very respectful. So far with just one window and a sliding door replaced our house is holding a steady temperature and it never did before. You couldn’t sit in the dining room in the summer without breaking a sweat. You can’t even feel the heat now. So basically, we’ll hang curtains and shades like we did before, you won’t even see most of the windows. If these windows don’t leak and last a few years, we’ll be happy for the price we paid & we paid what the other companies quoted for the construction alone:/

#1 hire a window pro that only does windows do your window install and let a sider do the siding. Forget the notion of wanting “ one company to do it all”. #2 mezzo is not regarded as a solid window., in fact no alside window is. Another brand “ jack of all trades” contractors seem to use are MI Windows which are horrible. Just as bad as pella vinyl. There are high end vinyl windows that are more energy efficient than any well knon wood window brands. Look into Okna, soft lite, kensington, or sunrise. These are top performers and good looking as well. where are you located? Some brands are regional.
