plantation shutters and curtains
Comments (16)No, they are not tax deductible. I have them in several rooms and since I'm in Florida I had to go with faux wood. I actually like the look of the faux, but maybe that's because it's the only kind you ever see in this state, thanks to the humidity. Whether or not you use draperies with them is your choice and depends on the look you want. They don't have to be treated, and give a nice clean, finished look to windows on their own. But for a more formal room where you need something extra or a punch of color, you could do stationary panels on either side....See MorePlantation shutters without window treatments
Comments (17)When I bought a new home 3 years ago, I knew I wanted plantation shutters but worried about color and composition. I had a local vendor come to my home and he showed me actual shutters in place and that was so helpful. My walls are a creamy off-white and the shutters match beautifully. I got the poly design without handles. I love them!!! I keep all the lower ones closed the the upper ones open and angled up. My house is filled with light and looks classy because it matches throughout. Mine are inside mounted and I feel no need for drapes. I feel the shutters blend in so well they don't serve as decor, I am able to use accents in the rooms for decor. The shutters are easy to clean and really do a great job of insulating the house....See MorePlantation Shutters & Curtains
Comments (4)We have plantation shutters throughout our home, and to me a big part of the beauty of plantations is their simplicity, so I would not add curtains to mine. That said, if you'll Google images for "plantation shutters with curtains" you'll see a lot of examples where it's been done nicely. It's really a matter of your own style preference....See MorePlantation shutters in great room.
Comments (25)I love plantation shutters but all styles are not created equal. Shutters with a tilt rod for example adds more personality to the shutter but can look heavier than a hidden tilt - personal preference. Also, if you have a large window and you decide you want the double cafe look in an accordion style then that will add a heavier look to your window as will double doors. Before we had our windows done I researched and poured over different looks. We ended up going with a very clean look with hidden tilt, 3 1/2 inch louvre and a single door on 3 windows, double doors on all the rest. We even have them on our slider doors. They let more light in (and the look of the outdoor as well) than the blinds they replaced. And the control of the louvre is wonderful to change up the look. We have open concept and we ended up doing the window above the kitchen sink in a woven wood. All shutters are done in white as is the woven wood. The look is beautiful. I’d love to see a pic of your space to rule in or out the use of both shutters and woven woods. :)...See MoreHU-187528210
