I am rarely speechless, but this did the trick ;-) My favorite part was the Esther Williams routine- that at least came off as cheeky. The rest rang incredibly false to me. A big, luxurious house filled with family and friends I love.

Yeah, it's weird but I thought you all might find it interesting. I don't think it is about the house per se, I think it is more of a "concept piece" showcasing her/her firm.

It's staged, stiff, and ostentatious on purpose. That being said, it's slightly interesting.

Apparently the global family has spent so much time in hotels they want their home to have a lobby. She said ”I call it the ”receiving room,” not realizing that the entrance and front / public rooms of any house have been called ”reception rooms” for a hundred years. And instead of an actual huge, obtrusive bar that greets you as you walk in the door (implying that the first thing on the agenda is alcohol), people who entertain usually have a more discreet bar cart or bar area in one of the reception rooms, typically rhe living room or dining room. In an interview several years ago she said something to the effect that she takes her clients’ dreams and ”spins them into gold.” With her skintight patent leather leggings and immobile botoxed visage she looks exactly like the over curated, precious interiors she designs. She’s the Gwyeth Paltrow of home design.

I've not seen her interviewed but I do like her work. She uses/used a lot of very pale pink in her rooms that I liked. In fact, I "copied" from one of her rooms for the Itty BItty Stonehouse, this one

Meh, I have no qualms about Botox. I've had it a number of times myself, although I made the choice to stop shortly before the pandemic hit, and don't envision going there again - but to each their own. My issue with this sort of 'influencer' is that what the Windsor Smiths of the world are pushing is carefully crafted to carve out the "haves" against the "have nots", assuming people will aspire to the the scripted version of the former. It's all absurdly vapid IMO and reeks of a class consciousness that is woefully out of touch with how people are truly living today. Most people yearn for a comfortable existence, not one marked by pretentious posturing. That was big in the "me" decade of the 80s, but obviously some seem to think it's still a thing.

Gizmo, I think we are far more used to this outlandish posturing in fashion, then in interior design. Just like almost no one buys what you see on the runway, because it is OTT in both price and execution, some of the details and mood trickle down to ready-to-wear. I supposed the same idea is at play here, going OTT to promote a brand. Like maybe she was going to sell candles to the masses, like Chanel selling sunglasses.

Aptly expressed, @IdaClaire. Can't help recall how everyone strived to flaunt the appearance of wealth back then. It was stupid then, beyond tone deaf now.

The video text asks: "If you had all the money you would ever need, what would you spend it on?" Philanthropy and creating a legacy. Peacocks weren't on my radar but now, thanks to this video, I have to wonder if they're an endangered species. :) According to the Encyclopedia Brittanica, the green peacock is:

I have always adored windsor Smith’s work, especially her own home‘s black kitchen, exterior paint, tennis court and black formal livingroom complete with a ping pong table for her children. I actually still adore more formal homes filled with antiques mixed in with comfort and kids. I think she successfully does that.

The video made me think of a modern day Downton Abby episode. Especially the part with the woman dusting dusting a chef prepping a meal.

That is absolutely how I saw this piece, like a very imaginative editorial lay out in Vogue. I enjoyed the surrealistic feel to the video.

As for class consciousness and how people live today, I find it all beyond hypocritical. Most of us here don't have cooks, but we certainly pay others to prepare our food, one way or another, for example.

Do I see Americans ever living in a multi generational household filled with people? Nope. In my neck of the woods, the richer you are, the bigger your house and the fewer occupants it has. That is what struck me the most about this video.

The thing is for me, this video isn't targeted to the average Joe or Jane - it's appealing to people who can live like this-- have a pet peacock, staff, food and flower indulgences so it has to be viewed, IMO, w/that mindset. It's branding a fantasy lifestyle

Shows like the Kardashians', Real Housewives of _______. Million Dollar Listing_______,are popular because it's all about watching the lifestyle and home porn

Some trivia, Martha Stewart also has pet peacocks, staff and can indulge in flowers and food
