kitchen redo and painting question
Comments (2)Maybe, something for us to think about I will have a look at tiles in that color. This is certainly something my husband and I just can't agree with , I tend to go for the warm cream glazed cabinets and he wants to go for a whole new look of clean whites and baby blue tile, We saw a beautiful white kitchen done with a baby blue subway tile online, we both fell in love with, but having the brown furniture, is shifting everything more towards my cream glazed cabinets with brown and tan tiles. I certainly can't invision so much white surrounding brown tones. I am color-coordinated impaired, (unless I stay with the creamy warm tones) spending loads of money on paint and not having it look right is a heavy feeling. He feels white goes with everything, I feel like it would be sterile and cold. Arrrg he's so stuck on this blue and white kitchen....See MoreNeed Help With Color Choice for Kitchen and Keeping Rooms
Comments (6)Before our recent remodel my house interior was Dover White, flat finish on walls and Dover White wood trim in semigloss. My downstairs floor plan is mostly open and I was happy with the combination. Dover White is a shade that will change throughout the day's light and it played well with all the colors in my furnishings. And it never looked too harsh, to me, during cold winter months, as some whites can. We replaced our natural maple stained cabinets with white (a creamy white cabinet manufacturer calls Buttercream) and we have light stone counters. I wanted a subtle color on my walls as contrast to all the white. We Chose BM Carrington Beige and I just love how it makes all my white trim and our mantel pop. It is a chameleon shade that reads greenish, at times. Other times it's warm with a subtle golden glow. The name "beige" IMO, is not very representative of this color. Comments (62)So, just a quick update. Still waiting on the rug & pillows to arrive. In the meantime a World Market *just* opened up near us and they had cinnamon pillows! I also found a funky wooden "tray" that I liked. Do the old pilllows go? Or do I need to find something else to tie it in? Also, thinking of hitting West Elm tomorrow. Browsing their website I found this cluster of vases I like - might put these on the console. Maybe the mantle? I need something warm on the TV console too.. I also found these blue ones, don't think I like them as much. They also had some cherry wood ones, but I think if I redo the large framed artwork I won't need them up there. Maybe use these for the TV console? Or keep looking? Also saw this chair at World Market that I like, but I'm going to wait until the carpet comes in. It's getting there!...See MoreCan you use a warm toned neutral color with a cool tone neutral color?
Comments (13)Can someone tell me what this color white means for me then? It's supposed to be a bright white. Will it work with the crisp muslin? Sure will. DEW380 is a very pretty white. As you can see from its hue family notation it belongs to the middle of the Green-Yellow (GY) hue family. Chroma of 0.10. And that's everything you want in a clean, crisp, neutral "just white" white. It would take some diggin' to find a color that does not work with DEW380. With its low chroma it even works with other colors of white and you don't have to worry about either color of white looking dirty or dingy - again, because DEW380 has such a low chroma value of 0.10....See MoreBrittany Ledford
