Lindac- I'll check to see if we have a Service Master here. Mboston- I just sold my microfiber set- it cleaned up like a dream. Everything just wiped right off. To add to the spots, 2yr old DD is sick and vomited on a cushion this morning so any advice to get rid of that smell would be greatly appreciated. I cleaned up the cushion with a damp towel and it isn't bringing out any more dirt, but I can still smell it. I thought of using febreeze but i'm afraid it will make it worse.

We purchased a set of cream leather Chateau D'ax sofa and chairs at Macys 8 years ago and still love the set. They have weathered very well and look great. The stitching is the only thing that you have issues getting discolored from wear. I want to buy another set. I remember the salesperson stating that CD are Italian but could be made in one of three countries: Italy, Mexico, and one other country. Either way, I love my set. Natuzzi is supposed to great as well.

I have not been impressed with the chem-dry carpet/upholstery cleaning. They spray a foamy chemical goop onto your carpet/upholstery, agitate it around, and vacuum it off. Things just didn't seem to get that clean, it seemed to get dirtier faster afterward (like there were residues attracting dirt) and the chemicals were kind of nasty smelling although DH wasn't as bothered by it as I was so YMMV. I've tried a couple of different companies so I think it's just the process that doesn't thrill me, not a specific company. The way to avoid the floor-scratching issue is to have someone help you put slider discs under your furniture legs before the cleaners get there. I learned to do that when a not-very-good carpet cleaning company many moons ago pushed my couch over so they could clean under/behind it and snapped one leg off when it caught in a divot. They refunded the whole price of the cleaning but it would have cost more than that to fix it properly and I couldn't afford to go to court to fight them for it. Thank goodness that couch was skirted because for the next two years that corner of the couch was held up by a stack of old books. LOL (It was a handmedown; had it been an expensive couch I'd purchased I'd have fought it harder but had it been an expensive couch I had purchased I'd obviously have been working a better job where I could afford to take a day off!) Even scraps of carpet placed upside down - pile side down - under the furniture's feet makes it easier to slide them around on hard floors.

Nothing with silk, that's a given. If "easy to clean" is a primary criteria, then you want a Performance fabric (trade names are Sunbrella, Crypton, etc) which is infused or woven with chemicals that allow you to clean it with soap and water, some are even bleachable. Every maker today will have Performance fabrics in their lineup. Otherwise, cleaning codes for conventional fabrics are usually "S" which is dry cleaning chemical agents only. A common misconception is that Performance fabrics last longer, they do not. They are just easier to clean. Fabric wearability is designated by a double rub value, which most all are rated for as well. Of the ones you list above, the wool content ones are likely to have the highest rub values. Duane Collie
