Headboard Help
Comments (6)I agree with PhoneLady. Why not have your headboard held against the wall by the weight of your bed without actually attaching it to the bed. Then, you could pull the bed out slightly and push the headboard aside to access the cubby. I use a standard metal frame for my mattress with an unattached headboard with no problem....See MoreLook what I (kinda) made - headboard
Comments (23)HIW, it was solid, but I guess you could do it with spindles. I'm just wondering about comfort when you lean against the spindles. I also made a headboard for my DD's room with plywood and 2x4's. It was super easy (but this was much easier). Thanks everyone, especially for the feedback on the fabric. I did buy it for this room originally, but never got around to doing anything with it. I do have a vision of updating the room with a more up to date fabric (maybe a trellis or chevron). Any thoughts on where to move the floral pics? Maybe I'll start a new thread....See MoreBest headboards for reading in bed - OT
Comments (24)Interesting re-reading this thread! I still use a satin covered boomerang pillow. My new higher pillowtop mattress covers most of the headboard now though. This is a shame as it is made of Norwegian knotty pine wood which matches a vintage dressing table but the top is barely visible after the pillows are stacked against it. I would get it made taller by inserting some wood into the posts at the bottom but I continually need the bedframe. No more sleeping on the floor these days as I wouldn't be able to get up!...See MoreHelp with Headboard with armrests
Comments (18)Enduring, you really don't need a box spring any more...many beds are on platforms. And if he finds the existing "spring" to give too much, you can add a piece of plywood for firmness (he may prefer this as too much give can make standing a bit difficult.) So, no need to insert anything at all! Ikea mattresses are on sale right now and we tested a few out. Some are very comfortable... Agree about Craigslist. So many people want to get rid of their sleeper sofas (we gave ours away and it was in perfect condition). I would stick with leather, though, for allergies and ease of cleaning. If it has back pillows, then I might have one long pillow made in a nice contrasting fabric to make it look less like a sofa....See MoreHU-187528210
