Artichokes. After visiting Yosemite, we drove through the San Joaquin Valley and saw huge fields of all sorts of edibles, everything from almond trees to cilantro to strawberries etc. The whole valley was flat and plowed in straight rows, far as the eye could see. I didn't find it very pretty, but it was impressive to see such massive agriculture.
