JIMHARDY, i got the trithrinax campestris at jungle music palms, he only has a few that size left! he said pretty soon no one well have that size avaliable for a long time, hes been in business 4 33years & he says thats always the trend with this palm! he ships but your probably looking at around $100+ for that size to get it to Iowa! dont worry cuz when i have my own nursery all take a bunch of different palms & sizes to a few big cities in a big rental trunk including Iowa for real cheap! lol, if u have to dream , dream big right! happy growing! like TROPICALZONE 7 said "let summer begin!"

Thank you for the ideas and the beautiful picture. It is truly an incredible specimen of Chamaerops. I'm so jealous. I have noticed that there isnt always a great selection of "different" or "unique" palms in the local nurseries. I have a landscaper who I'm working with and I dont know if he can get some of these things or not? Ive been told that I need plant material hardy to zone 9a. I dont have a huge lot, so I have to be fairly particular. I have room for only about 3 specimens of palms w/ the other plant material I want to use. I'm very excited to get planting, but simply cant find the plant material.. I would be willing to take a day trip to any nurseries you all may suggest that may have different things.?? N

I think there used to be a Washingtonia robusta there and they replaced it with a hybrid that has a lot of W. filifera in it. W. filifera will often have a grayish or silvery appearance due to the waxy coating on the leaves. You can rub the leaves and the stuff feels like powdered talc.
