Removed Wallpaper...need reassurance for preparing walls
Comments (2)GARDZ is the best choice. GARDZ must be used prior to the skimcoat and should be used following the skim coat.In your case, it's also the best way to prime and avoid reactivating any residual wallpaper paste. Apply GARDZ on the damaged areas and let dry. Patch or skim coat the damaged areas. Let dry and then sand. Wipe away sanding dust and then prime the entire wall surfaces with GARDZ. After GARDZ is dry, it is ready to be painted. Michael...See MorePlease help - wallpaper removal and drywall issue
Comments (13)"We had a contractor look at it, who said we needed to remodel the whole bathroom for an estimate of $20,000." Fishing for work. Many drywall finishers do not actually know hot to use setting compound (Easysand or Durabond) and so a minor repair takes multiple 1 hour visits spread over 2-3 days. Easysand90 hardens in about 90 minutes, and you can apply another layer as soon as the previous one is hard (it does not need to be dry, just hard). If you get good you can switch to Easysand20 and put a coat on about every hour. More thin coats are better. It may look bad after the first coat, bot knock off any rough spots with the drywall knife (like a scraper), and apply another coat. After about the third coat it will start to look very good....See MoreNeed help - wallpaper removal gone wrong!
Comments (22)Last night I finished removing all the wallpaper. I scored it, sprayed with water and a little dish detergent, scraped, and pulled. I don't think that this stuff would ever have disintegrated. If I sprayed and came back 5 minutes later, it was dry. I could not see any way to saturate it, but I kept spraying as I worked on it. Most of it came off OK, but there are a lot of places where the top layer of drywall came with it. The drywall guy is coming tomorrow and I'm hopeful that he can fix it. I am glad that I removed it, especially since I found a small spot of mold. I also took a ceiling sample for asbestos testing even though the guys working on my house didn't think it was necessary. I hope they are right, but $95.00 is a small price for peace of mind. I'll give another update after the next step. Thanks for all the suggestions!...See MoreNeed advice on using removable wallpaper on drawer fronts
Comments (8)Wow, torreykm, thank you so much! Those are great examples - especially the first one with the green background. The pattern continues from one drawer to the other with a drawer face just like mine. I was very discouraged after the first response, but now am feeling more positive about the project. I'm curious, what did you google to find those examples? The grey and yellow wallpaper I found is just perfect in the room and I'd love to use it....See Morecat_ky
