This probably sort of started long before it hit the fan. It has been awhile now, I forget which exact variety started the arguments. It believe it was one of the Portuguese figs. Someone started a post wanting to share some extra cuttings(for free) which I think came from a source that others doubted the authenticity of. People jumped on the subject because if you are going to call something a name, it better be what it is being represented as or it will just cause further confusion and problems down the line as it is being passed around. Others felt that they didn't really care what it was called as long as it was a good fig. But that will just pollute fig nomenclature further...and this went on and on. The subject of newbies was sort of somehow partially thrown in the mix. Tempers got hot, people tried to change the subject and lighten the mood, but it kept coming up. Not to mention a few trouble makers, who were newbies, it seemed were around just to keep stirring the pot because those user names aren't seen anymore either. In the end the entire thread was deleted. But the subject wouldn't die, it kept popping up in other threads..the same people carrying the same argument(s). Before you knew it some people left and started their own forum. Which is I guess good and bad. Good in the sense that if they are happy now then God bless'em. Bad in the sense that they really add a ton of great knowledge and experience. Not to mention pictures, everybody loves pictures. There have been some returns though, I hope they stick around.

Interesting: The 2 Petite Negra,you have, One from Edible Landscaping The other from a fig seed you got from the original one i presume! My question:Since the one grown from a fruit,grew from a fertilized seed(The fig wasp is present),My question,is how different is the one made from seed,compared to mother tree ?. Are the fruits different,in shape color taste etc? We know that the one from seed is a hybrid,that had a mother and a father fig,so it should have genes from both parents.

Hi Sal, those figs did not ripen . This plant overall is somewhat of slow grower for me and wants to grow like a bush but i wont let it. It has only the two side branches as i kept the others pruned off and left figs on to get an idea of what they looked like somewhat i was curious.Hopefully this season i get to taste a few figs. One of the branches will be air layered for a member that asked last season and if that person reads this please email me. The other has to stay for now. This is my second favorite plant to look at and shape . Only a few plants now i can let grow decent size because of limited storage space this one will be one of the bigger ones if the figs taste good to me. One day its my hope to be live in a climate where most my plants will be inground and not so darn constrained in a pot. Best Health Martin

Sunni Forum is the place to ask questions. It is not wrong to ask forum related question even if similar question has been asked before and there is no wrong question. Forum is for the novice as well as for the experts. Most of the time you will get detail responses from some and short responses from others who have been active in the forum for a longer time and if they know that the subject has been answered in a number of different threads from different perspectives then they may ask you to do a search of the forum using the "Search" capability for the forum to get additional info. Sometimes you can resurrect and old related thread (even from archives) to ask question with a different twist to the same issue. It is OK to be forgiving if a sentence does not sound sweet. You may get much better informed answer from the same person next time. Yes, sometimes I get friendly reminders from my friends in GW and I start thinking 'what did I do again!'. What I mean is that one means well in one's own way but it it may look different from another angle.
