Can’t figure out new shed location and landscaping around it

We are completely re-doing our backyard and trying to figure out where to put the shed. The skip laurels in the picture are to be moved (location tbd as well). The left corner gets the most sun and the right corner is the most shaded location in the yard. There will be a 6 ft aluminum fence in the back and wooden fence will be extended on the sides all the way to the back. For landscaping in the back we wanted to put in a row of green emerald arborvitae with perhaps smaller shrubs in the front. Any ideas for shed location and perhaps landscaping around it would be most appreciated!

The shed in question is the one in the pictures.

Is the little clay colored wall? around the back and sides and black fencing on right side the edge of your property? I also seed some wooden fence on the left of your photo. Is that the neighbor's fencing? Just trying to get the parameters. Do you want the little shed to not be very visible or are you planning to landscape around it like a little cottage?

We agree, special measures must be taken to not kill plants growing in this stuff by simply watering them. Do you really enjoy the rigamarole of monitoring for "almost wilting," wood skewers, moisture meters, and my fav - sticking a finger in. Wouldn't you enjoy your plants more if you could just water them when you think you should, or just feel like, or when your schedule permits? If you're happy, by all means, please continue! It seems like you're trying to argue. But I did come on a little hot with the 'horrible,' I'm sorry. And well aware some people's schedules require them to be unable to tend to plants for longer periods than a few days. In a situation like that, peat could be a friend. It was a fast draining mix and was wondering if you used the same thing. I do make leaf mold and want to use it as part of a potting mix. For large containers nothing is better then bark. For fast growing annuals I have used nothing but peat moss and composted manure and was not going to think it would work, but it gave me a large harvest of jalapeno. It is fun trying different mixes, and you save a lot of money. I do buy potting mix. I like the new hyponex in the green bag that come in 1 and 2 cuft. This thread brings up yet another lost phone story. DH and I were walking the dog by a school. There was a stone wall and on it, an iPhone. We decided to take it and turn it into the police. It was a locked phone, but a text message popped up. It was the name of a young man who lived around the corner from us! When we got home, I send a message via FaceBook saying we had his friend's phone and where we found it. He said he would contact the friend, but then days went by. We finally knocked on their door and spoke to the parents. They took the phone and were surprised their son didn't get back to us sooner. Kids! What were the chances of us knowing the person who texted and that he went by his first and last name?

Is this space intended to be used as a dining room as well, or is there a separate dining room. I also assume the door will be the main point on entry. If the door is main entry and this space is just a living room then I would place an open book case to serve as a landing pad. Other corner across for door is other location. I would place TV console on wall same side as door. Float the sofa directly across from the TV and use the are behind as your walkway. should be room for a chair or two 90 degrees from sofa.

Congratulations on your new shed! We used 2’ x 6’ galvanized stock tank planters in front of our shed. We leveled them with boards and made sure they were the same height on each side. We filled them with summer annuals at first but now we have a small spruce in each one plus other small colorful evergreen shrubs. Super easy to maintain. You might consider painting your doors the same color as your siding.

Hi there! Yes, the top of the retaining wall you see in the back and sides marks the back and sides of our property. Left and right wooden fences are ours and will go all the way back to end of the property (they had to partially remove it to repair the retaining wall). So essentially the orange netting will get replaced with fencing, existing wooden on the sides, and aluminum all the way across the back. I don’t think I want the shed to be super visible, but did want to landscape around it to make it blend in a bit. They are going to build a pad to put it on so I have some flexibility with the pad size and shape.

I'd place the shed as close to your home as possible. If you place it toward the back of the lot, it becomes a focal point. You have a lovely wooded background.

I would put it in the left back corner so you can declutter the beautiful rock patio and to give balance. With landscaping you can use larger shrubs/multi trunked shrub/tree to beautify the area. I would make it a focal point, add some detail to dress up the little shed and a pretty curving matching path from the patio. On the right back corner add flowering bushes in front of the new fencing to make your eye incorporate the wooded area beyond your property.
