never thought i'de say 'stop raining' but...
Comments (6)The winds were so bad in South Carolina and Georgia that we could hardly keep the Jeep in the road on the way home and when we got into the metro part of Atlanta, no power and no way to get gas as you have to have power to pump gas. Finally, we made it near Auburn where there was power and got gas (whew)before running out. Good thing we had gassed completely up in South Carolina. I have had weather this bad and the good part of it is (and this time of year as well) that you have some water. Most of my roses got more diseased from insects when we had drought. That was when I found the RRD and the spider mites, which thrive on hot, dry. You will have another flush of roses, you might not be able to get that rain again. I don't want the death and destruction that was part of what some areas got Saturday and Sunday, but I sure could use some rain, drought here for about 3 years now....See MoreWill it EVER stop raining?
Comments (12)My friends BBQ got moved inside today due to rain, so I thought it was time for me to chime back in. I am thankful that the last few days have been only moderately rainy, at least I was able to get some long overdue weeding done. defrost49 I hope that the weather cooperates for your vacation. mainerose I hate to break it to you but we found JBs on my friends roses today :( No sightings at my house yet but I'm only 5 miles away so it's just a matter of time. I agree with you marthacr on the lowered expectations for a good day, I was absolutely content to weed the asparagus bed this morning with my muck boots on. fred good luck with your tomatoes, mine are also healthy but like you say 'Just waiting for the sun'. flowersnhens I feel your bad mood, and I agree this is a terrible season for someone starting their first vegetable garden. anne the mosquitoes here have not been that bad. I wonder if the heavy rains have flushed out some of the larvae? I'm thankful whatever the reason that our mosquito population is not huge. If you go outside at dusk, you get bites, but not eaten alive. lamb abbey orchards I am glad that all of this rain has been a boon to someone! chicken lady, that looks like my garden right now! I am considering switching to rice next year. My sister has made similar grumblings about starting a cranberry bog....See MorePhil, I hope you're getting some of this rain
Comments (4)Actually,chickin,it leaped right over us again, but it is still darned cloudy. We seem to be in a vacuum;the rain just jumps over us and heads for upstate SC and they are the only ones getting it,although Asheville got some rain also. I know it rains here, because we have lots of trees and they wouldn't be here otherwise! This area is over 10 inches down for the year, and reservoirs are going dry all over western NC. Sorry to trouble ya'll with my troubles, but it can't go on forever. Phil...See MoreHow do I stop a garage door from dripping rain on my car???!!!
Comments (22)I have the same issue and for a long time I could not figure out how the rain water is landing on top the car especially after I weather-stripped the top and sides of the door - until today when I just happened to open the garage door to clean the water mess on the car, the water came pouring through the sectionals of the door! Now it is simply not just the few drops of water that is the nuisance - if your car has some or lots of) dust the water drops create a messy look after the water drops on the car dry out - it looks really yucky on most cars and especially on a black car! If you want to go out and it is still raining, sure, the mess will be washed off but what if it is bone dry outside (sunny or not) - one is compelled to wash the mess off oneself or take the car to the car wash, unless one is ok with a messy looking car. This is quite annoying if this happens frequently as it does in the rainy season....See MoreKathsgrdn
